17 day diet is a good weight loss starter. No real secrets, just hard work, eating within my calories, and doing what ever I can to burn some extra calories. A lot of people on here like the julian michaels dvds 30 day shred and get ripped in 30. Theyre like $100

weight loss secrets? remember, thisis 80% nutrition, 20% exercise.
i now serve myself about half or 3/4 of what i used to at meals, especially dinner. that way if i go for seconds, i don't feel so bad, because i'm basically eating what i normally used to on one plate, or 1 1/2 times as much.
i measure everything that i'm going to put into my body, either with a scale or a measuring cup. i pay more attention to labels and serving sizes. did you know that a serving size of oreo's is 3 cookies? who can eat three oreos? i used to eat them by the carton. so now i'm careful about what i eat and how much of it.
i pre-log my food. i find myself entering in my food for tomorrow the night before. i put in breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. some are estimates, most are measured. and i have no problem going over my calories when i pre-log my food the night before, because i always end up taking off one thing or another, like a granola bar or something, or having a little less at dinner. i find i'm not even struggling with hunger most times.
as far as exercise, start keeping a log. remember, "What gets measured gets improved." if you ran 2 miles yesterday, try running 2.5 the next time you run.0 -
my top 10 are:
1) never give up
2) drink water (but don't try to drown yourself)
3) eat less processed food
4) move more, every day
5) build muscle, you'll need it
6) get a health professional involved (doctor, nutritionist, fitness trainer)
7) plan your meals
8) log your food
9) surround yourself with like-minded positive people
10) think of the long term -- it's not a bad day or a bad week or a bad weigh-in that should make or break or you -- it's what you've accomplished over a month, a season, a year, a lifetime that will determine your success.0 -
Take your measurements and stay away from the scale.
and MORE KETTLEBELLS!!!!
srsly, it's cardio and strength training in one fun workout!0 -
Avoiding anything followed by 'diet'. Also, steering clear of quick fixes, jump starts, and anything in pill form. Mostly never under eating... works for everyone!0

My secret is tracking my calories, but shhhhhhh....don't tell anyone. I think this could be big so I'm going to write a book on it.0

It's very simple. Follow the calorie limits that MFP sets and thats all you need to do. You don't have to exercise. You don't have to exclude any food as long as its within your caloric goals. Strength traininng is more important then cardio when it comes to weight/fat loss. Both are good for you regardless. There is no magical diet. In fact there is no diet at all its about eating in moderation and eating as healthy as you can. I love my beer which i have 1-2 drinking days a week and still lose weight. What i don't do is over eat. I don't go to buffets and i rarely eat ice cream or sugared desserts.
I eat ALOT of EGGS. I try not to eat things made with white flour. I eat eggs fried in bacon grease. I use butter instead of man made fabricated oils. I eat food that mother nature makes. I might drink one soda pop a week if that. I love coffee so i drink 2-6 cups a day which is healthy and raises metabolism. Most people that choose to lose weight have a stabile weight meaning they are not gaining. Once they reduce calories and lose the weight you will find maintaining is easy. I don't count anymore. I eat sensibly and drink plenty of beer 8+ a week plus some booze and have managed to lose .5 lbs a week since January at nearly 50lbs lost. I love how i look and i'm not going back. Good luck0
