For those who have run a 1/2 marathon

So I'm finding training plans online and tailoring them to myself. The problem is, they all stop at the point of the half-marathon.... but what do you do after that? Do you take a break from running for a couple weeks? Do you continue to run long runs every week or do you go back to your average-length run for a while? My point is I don't want to injure myself, but I want to continue exercising and pushing myself even after I reach half marathon distance.

I kind of do a reverse taper... Before the race you gradually cut back your training distance, in order to save your effort for the big day. After race day, give yourself some time to recover and then gradually build up to the amount you want to be running again once your body recovers. This will look different for everyone but read around and see what sounds like a good fit for you. You can then determine when you want to start training for a full...0

My trainer drummed it into my head .. Add up to 10% to your longest run per week, nothing more.0

If you want to continue to increase distance, start marathon training. Find a marathon plan and start somewhere in the middle close to the mileage you are at.
For me, I usually give it a couple days and start with a few light recovery runs. then I usually drop back to the 5-6 mile range and cut back for the winter (that's just me).
The one time I trained for a full marathon, I used the 1/2 as a training run (it was about a month befor the full marathaon).
I only sustaing long running for 6-8 months at a time. I am almost 50, have flat feet and get sore bottom of feet (plantar faciatius) when I over do things. Stretch a lot!
Good luck0
