Hey everyone,

Like a lot of people I've had a long battle with my weight, I was never "thin" but it took me a long time to realise exactly how "big" a problem it was. At my largest I refused to weight myself I know I was plus 115kg at my most recent weight in I was 82kg.

It has been far from an easy journey - I gave up, started again, hit plateau, found MFP & broke through, had a cancer scare & gave up again, got back on board, took my foot off the gas again then my trainer really challenged me - I think he was tired of my quitting, he pushed me with weight lifting.

My longest plateau happened at this point it was 7 weeks long - I stepped up my training every week & ate super well but the scales refused to move - it was SSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating  but I could feel the changes and realised I need to change my focus from the scales to something else. For me that became my deadlifts every week I "gauged" my progress on the quality of my lifts & the weight I was lifting. The more I lifted the better I left about myself & the bigger the changes I saw in myself.

Along the way something amazing happened - I found a happiness in myself. I cant explain it but walking down the street I find myself smiling...  I've also discovered a new respect for myself - at work I've gone from the pushover who'd do work for others to pushing back on colleagues; I challenge my team to be the best version of themselves & challenge myself to try new things.

My reason for posting this is simple - when I started I needed to realise that I could do it and I was worth it!. Seeing people's success stories helped me realise there are no "right" ways or "wrong" ways just whatever works for you. The only way to figure that out is to try different things until you find what works for you.

I'm struggling to upload before & after photo's but they are saved on my profile in case your interested (I will figure out how to upload them some day...:ohwell: )

I'm off on holidays tomorrow and know I cant keep my strict regime and thats ok. When I get back my focus will be reducing my body fat (its still too high at 37%) and of course increase the weights I'm lifting.

If I can do it so can you. Good luck! :flowerforyou:
