Hi all,
I just found this site yesterday and am really impressed with the tools and with all the supportive people on here.
I have always been a thick woman, but about 5 years ago I lost 50 lbs. taking diet pills. I maintained the loss for a few years until a hurricane destroyed my house and I gained back 35 lbs... I'm going to blame it on "stress"
On my 40th Birthday I decided, I'm going to lose those pounds and get back into a size 8  I've never been an athlete and I have never succeeded with diets, so I started out slow. I began walking every morning and doing weight watchers to monitor my calories. From June to November I only lost a total of 15 lbs... I'm not happy with that. About a month ago I kicked it up a notch by going to the gym at least 4 days a week and thought I was doing well with my calories. Until I started writing it down... the sweets are my downfall :frown:
Today was my first day completing my food diary. As I was entering my dinner calories I was planning on having a "treat"... when I saw the total for the day I was already 82 calories over my goal. That killed my sweet craving instantly and I grabbed a tall glass of water. Just seeing the number in RED really made me think "Do I really want to ruin my progress further today". No I don't!
Sorry for the long read, just wanted to Introduce myself and thank you all in advance for answering my many upcoming questions, I hope I'm not too much of a pest. By the way I'm 5'5, 175 lbs. and need to lose 20 lbs to fit into those size 8s.
Have a great evening!

Welcome to the site.
I just started as well and I love the site. The people are sooo supportive. You will enjoy the experience.
Don't feel intimated by being 40 and getting in shape. I'm 43 and need to lose more than 50 lbs to get back into a size 8.
You will be there in no time.
On my way to becoming one of the GROWN AND SEXY (and HEALTHY to boot)0 -
Thank you for the warm welcome.
I just read a topic that says I should calculate my BMR. I'm supposed to have 1200 calories a day according to MFP(1600 if i workout). That number might be higher for me.... that would be nice. I will find out.0 -

Sounds like you are doing great, even for a newbie! It is so motivating to see the actual calories we eat, isn't it? I have a suggestion - if you do feel the need for that extra something, balance it with some exercise. Go for a walk or do some jumping jacks or something to burn up those extra calories. Then you can reward yourself - guilt free!0
