Hello!

I am Elisa and I live in Spain. I am 25 years old and been fat all my life. And I mean ALL my life. It sucks!

I've been dieting all my life, ever since I was 3. I think in the long run, all those diets had made me worse than better...

In 2006 I applied for bariatric surgery (aka weightloss surgery). I went through many doctor appointments, and as time went by, I was more and more unsure about the surgery. I was 134 kg at the time (298 lbs), however I started thinking...

"If they make my stomach smaller, what is the most, main change that I will be FORCED to have? Eating smaller portions. Then I will try it on my own".

So I started losing weight little by little. In the end I refused to undergo surgery and reached my lowest weight of 106 kg around 2009... However, many things happened and I am up to 114 kg. Sad.

But I am determinated to go to at least 104 kg. That's my short time goal. My long time goal is 75 kg (165 lbs). I am tall (175 cm, 5'8 feet) and big built, so I don't think I should go (or even if I could) under that. Though in all honesty I would be really happy to see the three numbers go and stay with only two...

My biggest problem is that I am still living with my parents and they are fat too... but they don't watch what they eat. I feel like a freak. When I am done eating, they are still eating. Such situations make me feel uncomfortable, and it's not good. It's stressing. It's also stressing to have, for example, cookies at reach, way easier than reaching cereals...

I am trying my best.

Other than health, my major interest is art. Art and videogames. I am an artist myself, studied art for 4 years and now I am looking for a job.

I also like studying languages. My mother language is Spanish, but I am Spanish - English bilingual and also can speak a bit of German. Now I am also starting to study Japanese!

I am looking for friends here, to follow them and share comments. In the end I think that the biggest inspirations are those who are in similar situations, and reaching their goals.

Thanks for reading me, and please add me!

    Hello,

When I was growing up, my Mom always used to tell us, eat everything on your plate, there are children starving in China. So, thats what I learned how to do, eat. When I was happy, sad, nervous, I ate.

    I understand.

This is a great website, with some great stories,,,,,,hang in there.

I grew up with a mother that cooked for thrashers and expected the food to be all gone at the end of the meal for a "clear day". I understand it is difficult to live in that environment and slip under the radar. You will have to learn to eat slower (I did that and got away with it) so that I finished my plate about the time they did. It takes some determination. Good luck with your journey. Most of all welcome to MFP!! :flowerforyou:
