I use canned veggies (green beans, asparagus, spinach) I know I should use fresh but if I rinse off the green beans for example, will it cut down that super high soidum or do you think the sodium soaked into the beans for good?
thanks
Dave

You can wash a little of the salt out, maybe 1/3 off, but most of it does absorb into the vegetable to "preserve" it. I would start buying fresh or frozen. If you have a lot of canned goods in the house, perhaps donate them to a food pantry for the less fortunate or such.
  • If you still prefer canned try buying the ones that say "no salt added" Walmart brand has most of their veggies like that. Frozen veggies are another good alternative.

You should definitely buy frozen at cub you can get a good deal on frozen veges I buy green giant corn though it taste way better then the cub brand but yeah give the frozen a whirl and if you like your veges with more of a crunch or bit to them not so mushy cook them for half the recommended time on the bag even the ones that say steam in the bag are good like that I did that for my kids over the summer when they had summer school they loved them.
