Dress Size to Weight Loss

I know loss of inches can determine a new dress but does the amount of weight loss do it too? If so, around how many pounds before pant size change? At this time I go from a 22/24 to 24/26 some days I would like to make a small goal of getting to a 18 by Xmas/New Years but i have no idea on how much it would take to do it or if that is even possible that soon.

You might check out mybodygallery.com for some perspective on this. You can input height, weight, and dress/pant size.0

There is no magic number...
Do your cardio, do your strength training, maintain your calorie deficit.
It is completely possible to maintain your weight, yet lose inches.
When I first started, 5# was a dress size. Now it would be more like 10#.0 -
size 8 to 6 was 20 pounds
size 4 to 6 was about 5 pounds
4 to 2 was about 2 pounds
2 to 0 was about 3 pounds.
lol kindaaa random. It depends on muscle gain. The workouts you do, etc.0 -
I asked this question when I first started, I'm a bridesmaid for one of my best friends next April and she wants to get our dresses ordered.
I've lost about 12lb so far, and whilst I can start to feel my hip bones/ribs again with a good prod, my clothes still seem to fit the same. Maybe my clothes were too much on the tight side before?!
I'm currently anywhere between an 18-22 depending on shop/clothes. I'm working out 5-6 times a week, and trying to keep below 1500 cals a day. I've gotten myself a personal trainer type person. He seems to think I'll make it to a 12 by April...0 -
For me it's about 10lbs, hope that helps0

I didn't really document it very well this time around, guess I should going forward. I started out at a very tight 22... I'm now in a regular size 16 (not a Womans size, not a plus size but a regular off the rack size 16 regular). I dropped 30 lbs in 75 days, and my 16's are getting a big lose on me. Just don't have the guts to go and try on a size 14 yet.0

10-12lbs for me! ; ))0

I wanna point out that there's more of a difference between plus sizes than there are regular sizes, so it might take 20 pounds for you to go from, say, a 20 to an 18, and only 10 pounds for you to go from a 12 to a 10 or something like that.0

When I started a month ago I was a size 18...a tighter 18. I have lost 14 pounds, and my 18's are loose- but 16's are too snug to wear comfortably. I am thinking I will need to lose another 10 pounds before my 16's fit nicely.0

I started out at a very tight 22...
This is an important point. If your clothing is already tight, it will take longer for you to need to switch to the next size. If you have been wearing your clothing bigger to start, you will drop sizes more quickly--at least for the first size-drop.0 -
Ok so i think with all the info i am not shooting for the 18 but size 20 by end of November seems more obtainable.:ohwell:
Thanks for the info!!0 -

I have lost about 20 lbs so far and started at tight 24 (jeans) for regular dress pants a 24 was a good fit., my pants fit alot better but I am not in a 22 yet...as for blouse size I was between a 24-26 depending where I went shopping.. and now all my blouses fit alotttt better, before I had certain blouses I could wear with jeans for example because of the BIG muffin top..now I can wear ANY blouse with my jeans..I am thinking maybe another 10 lbs for a 22 pants and maybe be between a 2x -3x blouse size...0 -
25 pounds lost took me from a very tight 16 to a 14. Another 18 pounds lost took me from a 14 to a 10. Work hard and count those calories. You'll get there before you know it!0

Height makes a difference too. 15 pounds off of a short person has a bigger impact on size than off a tall person.0
