  • I'm not sure if you can have too much, I know fiber makes you feel full... so its a good thing.

Just make sure you drink enough water to balance it out... more fiber intake needs more water intake.

No, it won't stop you from losing weight but an excess could lead to malabsorption of some nutrients and also some nasty tummy symptoms (but that depends on the person). For malabsorption though, I'm really talking excess of 45g per day.

I always try to go over on my fiber and protein each day...definately makes you fuller and also very regular :)
  • I get too much fiber a lot because I love Fiber One granola bars. I've cut back because too much can be bad for you overall. I thought it was over 35g per day, but someone else mentioned 45g. I don't think it affects weight loss because I've been losing okay, and it also helps you to feel full longer. The other issues it causes is a problem though. I'd try to keep in healthy range for health reasons.

If you are getting it from natural sources (veggies, fruits, beans, nuts, whole grains) and not fake fiber sources (powders like Benefiber and Metamucil, fiber-fortified cereals, etc), then the upper limit is pretty high. Like, high enough that you'd really have to work at it to go over.

Just be sure to drink enough water to help the fiber do its job :)
