The context of this one is not so great, but the comment was very rewarding. I started the Couch to 5K program early last spring and now run 2-4 miles a few times a week, which by itself amazes me. I couldn't run for more than a minute at a time when I started.
Anyway, the unfortunate part is that I was out running with my dog on the leash (he's a 70 pound puppy, still learning to run with me) when he suddenly spun backwards to kill a leaf, jerking me backwards. As a bizarre result, I wound up with an injury to one of my carotid arteries, requiring a stay in the hospital for a couple days. I'm fine, and will recover fine, although I have to back off my workouts for several months. Dumb doggie...
On to the NSV part: over the course of my hospital stay, THREE different nurses said something along the lines of, "Oh, you must be a runner" upon taking my pulse, as it was continually near 50. For one reading, at 3am, it was 47...so the nurse redid it assuming something was wrong with the reading, and it was back up to 51, doggone it. *chuckle

I’m donating a kidney & I have been tested for a million things. Every visit starts with my pulse & they all say, “Are you a runner?” (I am) My pulse is in the low 50s normally.

Thats kind of funny about them checking your pulse 2x's... I donate blood every 56 days and they had to mark my donor number as "low pulse" because last time I went it was down to 47 and they weren't going to take my blood until I said it was only 48 last time... and I am runner/cyclist.... the guy laughed and said ok then... and had the supervisor come over and test it again and she got 49 ... and said we then we are going to have to mark your account so this doesn't happen next time too.....
I go on Oct 20th so we shall see.....
Sorry to hear about your injury- heres to a speedy recovery!!!0
