Hummus

Soaked and cooked garbanzo beans (chick peas) and I roasted garlic… may just be the best hummus ever!!! Can’t wait for my daily hummus wrap tomorrow! I froze the remaining garbanzo beans. Any suggestions for an amazing meal with hummus and/or garbanzo beans?

I just eat it with Joseph's pitas as a snack between breakfast and lunch *shrug* that is how I like it0

Add extra lemon juice, mix in a little quinoa and a tiny bit of honey. You're welcome. ;p
Also, black bean hommus is amazing. You can pretty much make hommus with anything bean-y and grainy.
I use nonfat greek yogurt in place of olive oil. Try serving it with some labneh* and fresh veggies!

I like to toss garbs in my salads or I have a curry sauce I make and keep in the fridge, then I steam veggies, cook brown rice, toss some garbs in there, and top it all off with the curry sauce0

I was born in Beirut but grew up in the states. I used to eat Hummus everyday. I love the stuff.
I like to make a wrap with hummus and black olives. Really simple and really filling.0 -
I have a lot of cooked, frozen garbanzo beans left over. Any ideas on how to use them? Or any amazing hummus recipes?0

I bake the beans - tiny tiny bit of olive oil and salt and pepper to taste!

My favorite ways:
1. Curry (vegetarian or not. Sometimes I make a chicken curry and throw in the garbonzos for more fiber)
2. Pasta salad: chopped veggies, pasta, vinaigrette, garbonzos
3. To replace rice as a side dish for broiled chicken
4. Add to vegetable soup for more fiber
5. A hearty salad: steamed chard or spinach, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, chickpeas, chopped tomato and leftover chicken if available (add some couscouse or quinoa if you want) with a homemade vinaigrette: blend a little bit of onion, a tablespoon of whole grain mustard, any left over fresh herbs with 3 parts vinegar, one part olive oil, salt, pepper and maybe a litle honey...very tasty without the herbs or just squirt lemon and add a little drizzle of olive oil)
I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds amazing: http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/110870 -

Oh, I forgot one more: roasted chickpeas. Toss them with some salt, pepper, chile powder and a little oil. and roast them in an oven at around 350 until they are crunchy. Super yummy snack, they taste like nuts! (Loads of other spices work well here.)0

+1
I have made similar (without the sugar and lemon). They were awesome. I also did not refrigerate and kept them a week.0 -
I like to plunk 1-2 TB hummus on top of a green salad or eat it with crudites.0

I forgot about this great recipe: Chickpea Curry with Dill
http://www.thesecondlunch.com/2010/03/chickpea-curry-with-fresh-dill-leaves-a-review-of-5-spices-50-dishes/
(FYI: if you make it with a teaspoon of cayenne, your mouth will be on fire. 1/2 teaspoon is a little hot. If you don't like it spicy, decrease to 1/4 tsp or less)0 -
I've never tried hummus. What is the texture like?0

BUMP! Hummus is a staple in our house!0

Sort of like smooth guacamole if done well. It is thick enough for a chip to stand up in, but generally not chunky. Airier than peanut butter.0
