Every time I wash my HRM strap it takes it a LONG time to start working properly. I washed it on Sat so it's dry (feels dry to me) but I cannot get a signal. This happened when I washed it before & I finally got it to work right before bootcamp!. Does this happen to anyone else.?

I gave up on Polar brand after going through three of them. As expensive as it was, I ended up breaking down and getting and Garmin Forerunner 610. It much more robust and very accurate.

My strap isn't working at all. Is it a Polar? They have a 2 year warranty if it is!

Yea it's the ft4. It's so aggravating. I rinse it out after every use & the last time I washed it, it did work again. But I have tried it a dozen times today & it's not working!! I have only had it a month!!

Are you wetting the electrodes on the strap? Is the strap tight enough? Is the battery good in the transmitter?

Also are you using detergent only, no fabric softner and letting line dry?

If you are, I'd try contacting Polar and seeing what they can tell you.. I have the FT7, and I've had no issues with it.

I washed it in a mesh bag like the directions said to do. The battery should be fine it's only a month old. Only used detergent & yes line drying. I'll contact them today if it's still not working thx

My FT4 has given me loads of trouble, but one thing that you can try, if you haven't already, is giving the connector (the electronic part that you snap onto the strap) a good rinse and then dry that thoroughly. Also, before you snap that part onto the strap, make sure that the spot on the strap that you snap it onto is dry, even though the sensors should be wet. Good luck...I know how frustrating it is!
  • I had the same problem. The way I fixed it is by wetting the sensors on the strap before I workout. Works like a charm!

Thx I'll try that next. It finally worked after starting my workout this am......
  • I noticed that once I started sweating it started picking up my HR. That's why I just wet it before I leave the house and I haven't had any issues in weeks :) Glad I could help!
