Good morning lovely people of MFP.
Since i started here i have lost 11lbs, which although not a lot of weight seems to have also lost me a good few inches. I started at a UK size 18-20 in a trouser, these are now to loose to even really wear with a belt. I have lost at my waist but not really around the tummy area so i am not able to do up smaller sizes without passing out and giving myself a delightful muffintop effect! Even though i comfortably now fit in a size 14 skirt i cant do up a 16 trouser!
Okay now for the point of my post.
1.Can someone suggest some excercises i might do to reduce the stomach area so that i might fit into trousers which will be essential once the weather gets colder.
2. Is there anyone in a simillar situation, ie big stomach/hips small waist who has found a trouser brand that fits better?
All help appreciated ....my hubby is sick of me nicking his belts and tbh they are makign my trousers look like clown pants!

You can't spot reduce stomach fat.. the only thing that you can do is eat right and exercise and hope that it falls off your stomach.
My suggestion if you can, is that instead of trying to find pants, make the pants fit you. Go to a tailor and have them take the waist in. In the US, it only costs like 15 or 16 dollars and it's a lot cheaper then trying to find new pants.0 -
Hi Rachel,
Getting toned abs takes both physical work through a good core workout as well as through nutrition. Don't focus on just crunches - look for a workout that will tone your entire core (front, back, and sides) and try eating as clean as possible.
This article helped me transition the way I eat over an 8-week period. It has been so helpful in my 30 pound weight loss: www.melcowenfitness.com/8-week-nutrition-transition
Congrats on the 11 pound loss! That is excellent.

can't spot reduce. wish i could, because then my belly fat would be gone too. but you just need to keep eating right. this is 80% nutrition, and 20% exercise.
good luck.0 -
I have a similar problem - can now wear size 14 skirts and jeans, but not dress trousers in a 16 for many brands. I found some plain black size 16 trousers in M&S which fit reasonably well, and as an added bonus they only cost £12 a pair! Try those!0

i wear leggings or yoga pants(long baggy leggings) to work out in and they stay with you as you are loosing weight!
as for spot reducing 1st place you gained it is the last place to loose it!0 -
Thanks i will have to check out M&S and what they have that fits. I would check out a trouser altering service but the ones i have are pretty much on their last legs anyway so not much point paying out to have them altered.
Will also check out workouts as well, i appreciated i will probably always have a little bit of a belly even when i get to goal it runs in the familly :grumble:0
