Optimum Nutrition sells it in a can.0

Cottage cheese, greek yogurt, beef, pork, fish...
why so much protein then?0 -
Exactly....50 grams plus the 8 in milk when mixed with 2 scoops of protein powder.0
-
Pouches of tuna are a great source of protein with very few calories and I dont' think any carbs.0

I was pretty surprised at how much protein is in a glass of skim milk! seriously, it can make a big difference, also, try getting some low fat spaghetti sauce, no meat added, and throw in a half a can of "rinsed" chick peas or lentils or my favourite lima beans, add some light parmesan cheese, whatever vegetables you want and go that route, it's awesome!0
-
I just started having a protein shake an hour after my morning workout (50g) also I changed some of my snacks - I will have chicken cutlet wrapped in lettuce or just plain - I'm learning as I go - last week I had a "fish week" lunch and dinner but I would say do the protein shake.....0

Quinoa....pron: key noir0

A can of tuna has 37g of protein and only 140 cals.0
-
Optimum nutrition gold standard whey, great flavor and mixes easy.0
-
I small can of tuna has 100 cals and 22 g of protein.
If you mix it with hard boiled eggs your protein will go up even more and for not many calories0 -
Not my fav... but Tuna.. One can has 42g of protien and 0 carbs.0

Hi
I am a high protein/low carber too and I tend to eat the same foods everyday as I know they work for me. They include smoked salmon, tuna, tofu, fat free yoghurt, cottage cheese, salmon fillets and nuts as a treat. I don't eat meat (Only fish as I am a pescatarian) but seem to get all my protein every day.
I hope this helps.0 -
Quinoa, I use it in recipes that I would have used pasta or rice in the past. It's delicious, and really filling!0
-
voskos yogurt (9 carbs 23 g protein), 4 egg whites 1 yolk, isoflex protein shakes (27g zero carbs).... After my morning workout- these are my 3 GO TO foods. excellent source of protein in all!0
-
Mmmmmm... yum, I've having a tuna sandwich for lunch today now! Thanks for the reminder I've been craving fish like crazy.0

turkey is the best for meats, cottage cheese, eggs but be careful for the fat, eventually go for two whites for one yolk.
Peas/beans. Soy products.
Kashi go lean cereals can pack a good 13g of proteins, that's a good start in the morning.
Of course whey protein can help you as well, but I try to keep it low, I dont want to depend on it.
best option for me is dry pressed cottage with low sodium, it's one of the easiest add on to reach that goal0 -
Thanks everyone! Jeez I love this site, it's so nice feeling like other people CARE that I'm working on losing weight.
So the results are in.....(drum roll please)
PROTEIN POWDER IT IS!!0 -
Shrimp, Greek Yougart, Kashi Go Lean are my favs.. canned chicken or tuna, lunch meat0
-
What everyone else has said. I eat tuna, eggs, chicken, cottage cheese, low fat or fat free greek yoghurt and protein shakes!!0

Add a protein powder shake and ½ can of tuna as a snack, it's delicious with a 1/4 tsp of hot sauce. Nuts and beans are sources of protein but they are equally sources of carbs so personally, I feel their benefit is counteracted by their carbs hence why it's hard for vegetarians to be very lean. I feel the same way about Greek yogurt b/c in order for it to not taste like unflavored mush you need to add fruit or buy the fruit kinds and then that ads 20+g of carbs.0

I'd go with upping your tuna, eggs and cottage cheese too Protein shakes are great but I wouldnt substitute it for real food. Maybe as an after workout boost but my personal trainer said dont subsitute for real food. Hope this helps,!!0 -

good call - I usually do mine as my dinner snack as its best when used to "repair" muscles, etc. Good luck, sweetie!0 -
There's a lot of places you can sneak a bit of protein powder into for normal recipes. Add it to your coffee, eggs, pudding, sauces... Just find places to kinda sneak it in.0

I eat a minimum of 300g protein a day (doctor's orders for a metabolic disorder), and 25 carbs or fewer.
My go-to foods:
Grilled chicken breast, fish filet, pork chop, steak... just use spices, not high-carb sauces, for flavor.
Hard-boiled eggs are a great snack, 0 carbs & 6 protein per.
Hard cheese... you can find a lot of different flavors, and a 2-0z snack usually has about 14g protein.
For a treat, I'll put a scoop of chocolate protein powder into a cup of plain Greek yogurt, and there's 30g right there.
I also make things like spinach quiche and low-carb meatloaf.
Best veggies for max protein & min carbs are spinach & other leafy greens, & mushrooms.
You have yours set pretty low, so you could probably do it without this, but... since I am required to eat so much protein, I use a protein powder supplement. I usually have a scoop of protein powder in my drink with every meal or snack. Syntrax Nectar has a lot of different flavors, it's just like having a glass of juice or a chocolate shake or a cappuccino, except I'm getting 23g protein each time.
It also helps to spread things out during the day. If you only eat a couple of meals a day, you'd be full long before you get enough protein. I eat every three hours. I'm not hungry that often, have to set my phone alarm to remind myself, but it really works well for me.
Message or "friend" me if you're interested in some recipes, or you can just do a search for low-carb or paleo or primal recipes on this site. Good luck to you!0 -

careful whey protein is destroyed when heated. You have to make sure you do not get it too hot.. i.e. forget about making a protein muffin0 -

You're talking about denaturing protein, which is ok. If denaturization destroyed protein, then you couldn't get any protein from cooked meat or fried eggs. Pretty sure heat is added when protein bars are made too.
I think the cut-off for destroying whey protein is like 70C. Sooo just don't add it to boiling tea water. Adding it to a sauce? Do it at the end, or just don't let it bubble.
Ok, in hindsight after ranting/researching, yeah no protein muffins. No baking or barbequeing. Frying is ok though!0 -
