My gp told me that I seem to have water retention esp in my face hands and feet he has prescribed me water tablets has anyone ever been given these before and if so does it mess with your measurements and lbs lost ?

I can't imagine they'll mess with your measurements too much. The thing is...your doctor didn't prescribe them because you have water in your face, hands and feet. That, medically, isn't a big deal. The danger is that if you have that overload of fluid showing up in those places, you likely have other risks, such as high blood pressure. If left unchecked, excess fluid can "back up" behind the heart, causing CHF (congestive heart failure). That's the reason for taking a water pill.
If anything, you'll have an initial adjustment in your weight and maybe in your measurements, and then that will be your "new normal."
