Amount of Sugar?

So I'm not sure how much sugar is too much. I'm not really a sweets person, but MFP gives me 24g of sugar, and I easily go over that with things like milk or fruit. I mean, obviously I know when I'm having foods with sugar in it, like my occasional frozen yogurt, but I just don't know if it's awful that I go over so easily even when I don't have things like that. So what do you guys think? How much is too much? Should I cut out milk and fruit and foods like that? Let me know!

My suggestion is to take the sugar thing off your food tracker! I'd also suggest looking up low glycemic eating. It is healthy and balanced and you automatically cut back on sugar.

Or look up about diabetic eating.

The thing with fruit that I did to cut back my sugar was to eat half as much. Like with a meal I'll have half an orange rather than the whole thing.

I also cut out fruit juice. Juice gives you all the sugar in the fruit, but little to none of the fiber. Juice can actually raise your blood glucose levels.

I am controlling borderline diabetes and I'm losing weight with low glycemic eating, and eating very, very small meals, a bunch of times a day. It keeps things on an even keel for me when I do it this way.

If you aren't diabetic, going over on natural sugars shouldn't really be that bad.

My friend put me on a sugar detox last week for 3 days. I limited my sugars that did NOT come from milk, fruit and vegetables. You can also skip counting sauces in moderation! The first day was rough. But halfway through the second day I started to level out. No energy spikes and lows, mood was consistant throughout the day and no headaches! I know tonight I will be having cake (getting in extra exercise this morning to allow for it tonight) Then tomorrow I am going to start another 3 day detox!
  • I was on foodnetwork.com yesterday and happened to get on Ellie Krieger site (she's a dietician and show host for food network) On her site I found something that said don't worry to much about the sugars that are found naturally in fruit, milk, etc. but the sugars that are added to foods. If you're interested in reading it here's the website http://www.foodnetwork.com/healthy-eating/the-lowdown-on-sugar/index.html
