Its messing with you. Don't trust the machine!
is it digital or with a analog?
I always weigh myself 3 times in a row then average it out.0 -
Isn't that a total of 4?
That wouldn't be unrealistic if you had a great week. 2 pounds per week is what's recommended, but if you have a great week and have a fair amount to lose it's definitely not unheard of.0 -
Its digital0

OMFG something is WAY wrong with it!!! 272 lbs minus 268 lbs is 4 pounds!! Yet you say you lost 10! Toss that scale and buy a new one!0

272 -268 = 4
I checked it 6 times.0 -
272-268 is 4, not 10 unless I completely failed math.
Call me crazy.0 -

Same here. And I averaged it 3 times as well. Still got 4.0 -
I think she meant a total of pounds lost in all.0

I was thinking that this morning. THis is our 2nd digital scale (some really fancy german one I forget what its called). But the first time I weighed this morning it said 2ish lbs more than the 2nd time. I checked and there was stuff under the scale and got the 2nd reading.
I try not to look at the number until I think it is registered. Otherwise I try leaning for the lowest number lol.0 -

The real question is: What brand is the machine? Is it, by chance...?

Weigh ins are tricky, lots of factors can change things. TOM, sodium, water intake, etc. - so it's not going to be really exact. It could be your last weigh in was off - and this one is correct ..... who knows?
I wouldn't be too concerned about 1 weigh in. Keep up the good work!0 -

Im so confused. I think it involves geometry and I was never any good at those damn proofs
Or perhaps I forgot to multiply by the TOM factor0 -

Judging by the random capitalizations, we don't have many English majors.0 -

If its right...then it could be water weight you are losing. Thats a lot to lose in 1 week.0

I think it was a penny and a pad of paper... lol. I moved it out of the way. But each time I didn't look until a few seconds later (so I couldn't manipulate the reading), and the 2nd time it was 2 lbs less. Next week I am going to recheck actual measurements though, because those are more accurate anyway.0

I agree....I always take three measurements. Sometimes its in my favor, sometimes not...its like when I take my blood pressure readings three times, I get three different numbers...then I average them out. With the bathroom scale, sometimes there can be a 6 pound difference between three readings!!! Its a digital scale, about $50 range, I think it depends more on where I step on it. However there is a really expensive mechanical scale at the Boeing gym where I work out, and it is always consistent. Definitely for a home scale, take more than one reading. Hopefully you are losing weight! If you are here, then that must be your goal and it is a good one.0

Speaking from experience, I don't think 4 pounds is that unusual when you have a bit to lose and you've been following your plan. If you were something like 20 pounds from your optimum weight, then 4 pounds in a week would be unusual.0
