To lose 1 LB per week or two?

Curious what rate you've had the best success while using MFP - 1LB per week or 2LBS? Personally, I am seeing very consistent results using 1LB per week, and this has come at the same time as a 4 week hiatus from exercise, while recovering from surgery. 2LBS just seemed a little excessive and often seemed to lead to "starvation mode" and other less than fun health responses.

    I'm doing this for re-education, so pretty much the longer it takes the better. But I honestly dont think I could handle the 2lb a week loss calorie allowance!

    Setting your goals based on weight you need to lose:

    75lbs or more: Choose to lose 2lbs/week
    40-75 pounds: Choose to lose 1.5lbs/week
    25-40 pounds: Choose to lose 1lb/week
    15-20 pounds: Choose either 1/2lb or 1lb
    Less than 15/20 pounds: choose 1/2 lb/week

    It doesn't seem that you're too far from your goal weight, so I would agree with those recommending 1 lb per week. You'll be less hungry, one bonus. If you're really close to your goal weight, you should probably even go down to 1/2 lb per week. Good luck!

    I personally started at 1 but once that got easy I shifted to 1.5.
