Why sore muscles now?

I have been strength exercising for a month now. Haven't changed the amount of weights, yet. I work out 6 days a week. I clean the gym, so I work out as well. I also do my cardio. For some reason all of a sudden my muscles are getting really sore. I know I'm out of shape and overweight, but wouldn't they start hurting alot sooner? Weird...

You're probably overtrained. If you're working out 6 days a week plus doing manual labor like cleaning every day, that's pretty taxing. Muscle pain when there shouldn't be or if there isn't a good reason for it can be a sign of overtraining. It's a signal that your body needs a rest day. So take one. Take two. You'll be reenergized when you start back again. In addition to the fact that you really should give your muscles a rest day every other day, especially if you strength train. You put little tears in your muscles when you work them out and they need a day to repair themselves. Over time, if they're not able to repair those tears, they get worse and that's when you get muscle strains and pulls and the like.

Also, make sure you're drinking enough water. Muscle pain is also a sign of dehydration.

has anything changed in your diet? Maybe you aren't drinking enough water, or eating enough potassium.
  • I try to maintain at least the 8 cups of water a day. And I only take Sundays off.
  • But if I slow down, will that effect my weight loss?
