Hi
I suffer from something called S.A.D and I thought it would be a good Idea to spread the word about it on here as it can cause wait gain due to the fact that you crave carbs and comfort foods but I also wanted to put it on here because not an awful lot of people are aware of such a disorder and would be great to hear from other sufferers as a support network?
If you think you may have it do not be embarrassed about seeing your doctor, it can be really debilitating for some people!!
Here is a brief bit of information about S.A.D:
SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a type of winter depression that affects an estimated 7% of the UK population every winter between September and April, in particular during December, January and February.
It is caused by a biochemical imbalance in the hypothalamus due to the shortening of daylight hours and the lack of sunlight in winter.
For many people SAD is a seriously disabling illness, preventing them from functioning normally without continuous medical treatment.
For others, it is a mild but debilitating condition causing discomfort but not severe suffering. We call this subsyndromal SAD or 'winter blues.' It is estimated that a further 17% of the UK population have this milder form of condition.

I have this also...I fight it and its very difficult to do.
In those months , I can not go anywhere by myself. I can not go into a gas station or wal-mart even. I constantly need someone with me, kids, bf, doesn't matter. I have to fight everyday - If I don't get into the shower the minute I wake up - i'm done for the day -- i will sit on the couch depressed and not move.....I have to be very careful in what I do.0 -
Have you tried a S.A.D lamp? Some one else who uses MFP has given me an amazing link for S.A.D lamps, See link below:

It is really hard but with the right people around you and taking the right steps you can get through it, I try and make sure I go for regular walks, eat plenty of colourful foods and use my S.A.D lamp it helps but S.A.D is still there. Maybe I shyould just move to a hot country lol!!
Maybe try the SADA link on my original post, they have great ideas to help.
Keep your chin up
