23 years old, born and raised in Miami, Fl. I have been pretty fit my whole life, but somewhere in between my college years I let myself go. I have always been 180 solid & now I am 212 flab. Aside from gaining weight my health has really decline the last couple of months. Per the doctor, I have until December to lose 20lbs or she is starting me on blood pressure medicine. Exercising is not so much my problem, its more the diet aspect of losing weight. How do you all overcome that sudden urge to eat something?

Sometime just waiting it out works. Sometimes eating something similar, but healthier, works. Sometimes eating it works... but just a tiny bit!

Remember to track every single bite you put in your mouth, and success will follow.

    Best of luck :)

WATER..drink water. Nibble on healthy stuff.

I would rather start exercising than to start taking meds. I was once borderline diabetic. I had 6 months to lose the weight and accomplished my goal. I was so happy I didn't have to take the meds and end up paying a fortune on the pills.

    Good luck to you~
  • Yup I am in the same boat! Pre-diabetic as we speak. Appreciate the input I'm going to give it a go.
  • I definitely need to look into healthier snacks.

Hi my name is Kristal. I have 32 pounds and I receive numerous support from people on MFP. You can do it!
  • Thanks Kristal!

I keep something healthy within reach at all times...and crystal light packets (drinking just plain water is difficult, and I like the sweet without the calories ;)
Logging everything helps too - seeing cold hard numbers is a huge deterrent. Look them up before you indulge, and usually you can find a suitable replacement :)
  • Thanks! I might have to give crystal light a try

When I get an urge to eat something I distract myself, getting away from the food I want to eat. I also promise that if I have a few good days, I will it the food I want but in a small amount. My downfall is ice cream. Until 3 weeks ago I could not keep it in the house because I would eat it. When I was younger I'd exercise through the urge.
  • We're in the same boat, except my downfall is ribs and chicken wings. lol.
