Hi MFP,

I am currently losing lots of inches and all of my clothes are getting too small. So I am in need of some wardrobe help. I am on a very tight budget, so buying a whole new wardrobe isn't an option. Does anybody have any tips to what I can do to make my wardrobe look stylish again, and not make me look like my former self.

Thanks!

There is a shop in my city that buys used high end and designer clothes for cash and resells them... if your clothes fit that bill. If you have a lot of things made from t-shirt fabric, look into "t-shirt surgery" because of the way the fabric is made, you can leave an unfinished edge which is great for non-sewers.

You should google how to alter shirts, but I'm not sure on pants. I came across some really cute tshirt mods via pinterest, but didn't pin them so I don't have the link. They had some cute ways to take them in on the sides or the back to make them fit better and look really adorable.

Otherwise, check out garage sales or the thrift store.

I'm hoping I'll have that problem here sometime soon :)

trade it in for cash & go to salvation army :)
  • What a nice problem to have! :) Sorry that you can't replace your clothes right now, but maybe tuck shirts in, if possible. Use belts over slouchy long shirts and dress to make it look more stylish. Wear leggings to show off your fab legs. Wear heels to elongate your figure. Hope this helps.

Invest in a couple of pieces that will make your baggy clothes look more fitted. A fitted, light-weight jacket in a neutral tone goes with just about anything and will help disquise tops that have become too big. Get a couple of fun belts that hit you around the waist. They really help bring in too large tops and dresses. Also, some clingy, cheap camis help when tops that used to fit become too big in the chest or armpit area. Even some long, dangly necklaces with a little weight to them can help bring the sillhouette of an outfit closer to your body.

Unless you sew and can alter your clothing to make them fit - that's always the best. (I'm not that handy). :flowerforyou:
