I have read multiple threads on here in regards to HRM's, especially the polar brand. I am not sure which one to go with though!

I have the answer! Go to the Polar website. They list them all and describe the features and suggest which one will meet your fitness goals. I
t's great!

Silly! I did that =D My first inclination was the F4, but what is so great about the F6 that I would prompt me to pay more money for it?0

I bought the F11 after reading about it. I bought it off ebay for alot cheaper. It seems to do lots and the am interested in the programming. If it's nothing great, I'll resell it on ebay. What's the diff with the F6 and F7? I saw it for sale at Sears this week for 25% off.0

another idea
save your money until you are sure you really need one...which by the way you don't
spend the money on a new outfit when you reach your goal0 -
I have the f6 and I love it. It does everything I need it to do. Never tried the f4 so I can't compare, but I do know I love the one I have!0

Why do you say that? I want to know how many calories I burn. I don't have accurate information right now. Either I am under eating or over eating.0 -
I dont know a thing about the F6, but I am a technology/gaget IDIOT and I easily figured out my F4...I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
The only thing I wish it did have was an alarming voice to tell me " PUT THAT CHEESECAKE DOWN "  :laugh:0 -
I have the polar F6 and love it but I think I would also be very satisfied with the F4. From what I can tell there are 2 main differences according to the web site. The F6 is coded and the F4 is not and the F6 allows you to set your "own" target heart rate zones". However, I have found that the pre-programmed or automatic heart rate zones set to weight and age are also suitable for what I need. The F6 has an alarm that alerts you when you are out of your target zone and has a very handy sort of "log" of your excercise. It stores, for up to a week- calories burned, max and average HR, time spent in HR zone on a daily basis and will also give you total weekly values. Very straight forward to use. It seems to me though, that the extra $25 (or so) is worth it for the coded component if you excercie primarily at a gym. Blocking out other HRM noice will give more accurate readings in the end. Not sure if the F4 has the 3 different HR zones or not (60-70%, 70-80%, 80-90% of THR), but I know the F6 does. REI seems to carry both of them and costomer service can go over a lst of the differences with you. They were very helpful for me and did not pressure me to buy anything.0

Where are you reading that the F4 is not coded? Their website says it is:
F4

I don't know anything about an F6 but I have an F4 and I was able to set it all up (tech challenged).
I was able to personalize it as well...0 -
I bought a new F4 on ebay for $50!!!0

Hello - GREAT buy! I got my F4 at Christmas time brand new for $65 - and thought that was a SMOKING deal!
My understanding was, the only real difference between the F4 and F6 was that if you worked out in a gym, it could interfere and get different readings from other HRM's worn by people in the room. I don't go to the gym, so that wasn't a concern of mine - but that was the only real "advantage" I could see to the F6.
Good luck with it! I know you will love it. I was amazed to see that I burn 4000 calories on a typical day, no exercise! It is great to get a ACCURATE calories burned on your exercise, too - instead of relying on numbers for the "typical" person.0 -
It is so crazy to me that everything has found information that says the F4 is not coded. I read on their website that the F4 is coded, but with so many of you say it's not, I am starting to get worried.0
