My kids and I were waiting on supper to finish cooking, and I was flipping through channels when I stopped dead in my tracks. There was a show on called "Half Ton Dad". This man had gotten up to 1,032 pounds! He talked about how it snuck up on him because he was eating so much and not exercising. Before he realized what had happened, he reached a point where he couldn't get out of bed. His partner was basically enabling him by bringing him fast food all the time. His health had reached a critically dangerous point, and he decided to seek treatment. They had to knock out a wall of his house to get him out. Amazingly, he lost about 400 pounds in the hospital and was preparing for gastric bypass surgery.
This made me think two things: 1) I am so grateful that I only have 70 pounds to lose--it could be so much worse, and 2) If he can lose 400 pounds laying in a hospital bed, I can for darn sure do it getting my butt off the couch!
