Do you have something you say to yourself or something that you do that will prevent you in that very moment from eating that piece of [whatever]? When I get a craving I say "I will have a glass of water first and see how I feel after that".......but there again I have only lost 13lbs - middle aged women weightloss is SO SLOW!! any 48 year old ladies out there finding the same thing?

I imagine how many minutes of cardio/working out I would have to do to burn off the extra calories of whatever unhealthy snack it is. Someone brought in pumpkin cheesecake the other day, and after I figured in my head it would be an extra 25 minutes on the ellipitcal, it wasn't worth it!0

I'm not finsing it difficult to say 'no' to myself but I do agree on how slowly the weight is coming off. I am 51. I have read a lot about the subject and even doing all the right things it takes us ladies of a certain age much longer to reach our goals.0

I try to think about my list of things that I HATE about being overweight...and if I have the opportunity to go to my MFP profile, I will read them.
admittedly, sometimes I give in and I do think that you need to allow yourself a free meal at times if you're going to stay on the healthy journey...but I have stuck to the journey more often than not by reminding myself of the reasons I'm on the journey. This is why I often recommend to folks that they put this in writing in an accessible place.0 -
That is a really good idea imagining how much exercise you would have to do to work it off. I used to carry a post it note in my pocket that read, "Don't trade what you want MOST for what you want at that moment!!" It helped me for quite some time. Now I carry a Key necklace that I have in my pocket that reminds me that the key to get to my goal lies within me...0

Just what the above poster said. I usually think of all the work I have to do to burn it off.0

I fail at this completely.
but thanks for the ideas i will try them and get back to you
if there is something i am very bad at resisting i try to find healthy ways to fool myself - granita not ice cream
one square of dark choc, melted and used as a dip for fruit etc.0
