What type of shoes do you use on carpet for Zumba

I have sore knees after doing Zumba one day a week for weeks. It is on carpet. I have tried buying the carpet sliders they sell but I still had pain. Maybe I already injured my knees.

Do some people just wear socks?

This is a high impact Zumba class.

In the infomercial it looks as if people are wearing gym shoes. I'm sure that is always better if you are doing any kind of high impact.

if you're on carpet, then you shouldn't have a problem...unless underneath the carpet is concrete. i've been dancing since i was five, and the only time i've worn sneakers to do zumba was when i was in a gym. i'm pretty sure i was fairly tempted to take off my shoes then too. i suggest getting a knee brace, icing your knee if you notice any swelling, and taking some ibuprofen. i'd also watch your form. sore muscles = you're doing it right. sore joints = you're either not using proper form or you have an injury. do you have a previous injury to your knee(s)? if the problem persists, you can try a low impact workout like swimming.

I think it would very diffcult to do Zumba on the carpet in sneakers. I teach a couple times a week and even when we do performances outside...doing it in the grass can be bothersome to me. I know when I helped out at Curves during the Zumba intervals...I adjusted my moves to accomodate the fact we were working on carpet. I would take my shoes off if you must do it on the carpet. Otherwise, I would worry you may strain your knee with all the twisting and turning if it is "high impact."

In my opinion, I believe the best Zumba classes would be held on a gym floor and as an instructor I would be mindful to the fact we are on carpet.

Good Luck and keep shaking it
