"They" say you need to hit at least 10,000 steps a day... easy to do if you work and are on your feet a lot... Aim for about 5,000 to 10,000 or more.0

Thank you, unfortunately i do not work, so thats out lol but i do walk my child to school and home everyday, and am trying to walk more in the area while she is at school. Hoping to get my husband on board walking more, he always says he wants to but never ends up doing it. My husband has been parking further in parking lots lately too so we have to walk further if we are shopping further from home. I appreciate you advice.0

Hi Rebecca,
I just started a video today that might interest you.... Leslie Sansone, Walk Away the Pounds - 30 Minute Walk. You walk 2 miles in 30 minutes and the time goes by so quickly. It's going to be winter here in the next month or so and because of the ice and snow, walking outside really isn't feasible... not to mention cold. I picked up this video so I could continue to stay active even if I can't walk outside. I really like the video and worked up quite a sweat doing it. Feel free to add me.0 -
I was told 10,000 steps equal approximately 5 miles. That's what you should walk daily.0

I have a pedometer. I am looking at mine and I have 28,481 steps and it says this is 6.46 miles. Check out thread Logging Excercise.0

You must have some tiny legs! 10,000 steps for me is a little over 5 miles!0 -
Dont waste your money on a pedometer, they all give different readings.........just walk whether you take 5,000 steps of 10,000 it doesnt matter just increase the amount you walk.....what would you do say if you got to the magical figure of recommendation after two days, would you stop walking for the rest of the week because you had achieved your goal ! best just walk everyday and start doing more
The most important thing you can buy is a good pair of comfortable walking shoes !
If you really want to buy a pedemeter.....look on ebay their will be plenty for sale !0
