Had a bit of retail therapy this morning to cheer me up as I haven't been well for past 2 weeks and not been out of the house.... all good .... until I get home and try on .... why do these clothes look good in the changeroom and then when I get home nothing looks any good ..... spent the past hour going through ALL my clothes and I have nothing to wear .....

I have soooo many clothes ... but NOTHING to wear!

I've been through the "I'm only buying cheap stuff because I can't justify spending a lot of money on good clothes when I'm fat" .... to "dam it I'm going to buy some decent stuff now rather than waiting just to make myself feel good" .... but still NOTHING to wear!

I have a bed covered in clothes tried on and discarded after 2 hours of trying to find something to wear which doesn't burst at the seams, show up those rolly bits in my middle, cut me in two because its so tight, make me look like a whale.... and now I have to go and put it all away.

So now I feel even more depressed about my weight ..... so trying to purge on this forum rather than going and hitting the ice cream to make me feel better!

And I still have to find something to wear!

Keep them and as you lose weight, they will start to look better. That's what I do. Or mix and match with different things. If a shirt is too tight, wear with higher rise jeans to kind of cinch your belly. I also wear a flowy over sweater to hide my lovehandles

Take them back, and start again. Don't wear things that make you feel unhappy.

I love the quote in the photo arielle0489 .... the world would be a much better place if we all lived by this creed.

Yes, I will keep them as I do like them and I know they will look great when I just lose those first few kilos .... in fact when I lose about 10kg I am going to have soooo many clothes to wear it will be great!

"why do these clothes look good in the changeroom and then when I get home nothing looks any good ..." I'd say partly to do with all the flattering tricks they use in stores (lighting, mirror positioning etc) and partly the change is your mood/ mindset.

I do know those miserable times where you get into a self-hating spiral - I have them sometimes before parties or going out at night when I maybe plan something to wear then it doesn't work out and I can't find anything else to wear and just feel fat and unhappy. But it is mostly to do with my mindset rather than my clothes.

I'd say leave your clothes for the moment (don't do anything rash) and take care of yourself however works for you (bath, phone a friend, relaxing walk, manicure whatever...). Well done for posting instead of comfort eating!!!

Then when you're calm (another time) have a think about the clothes you bought. What attracted you to them? Were you being honest about fit or just hoping you'd shrink into them? (I've got a pair I *still don't fit after 6 pounds loss - need another four or more lost to fit. I was dreaming that day!)

And with the clothes you have - what do you really need to throw out 'cos it doesn't fit, looks cheap n nasty, is the wrong colour, isn't the right shape etc.? I'd suggest having a yes, no, maybe pile and sitting on the nos and maybes for a bit before actually giving them to charity.

    Good luck on your journey!
