Is there anyone here that suffers with this??

If so what do you do to deal with the constant roaring sound in your ear(s)??

I usually only have one ear bother me but I just spent several days with both ears bothering me and it was driving me crazy.

My doctor is wanting me to try a "chemical" labyrinthectomy, has anyone tried this? If so did you have good results??

I haven't had any trouble with Vertigo in many years (knock on wood) but I am considering this procedure and would like to hear opinions.

If anyone is reading this want to know what Miniere's Disease is it is an inner ear disorder that affects balance and hearing.

I don't deal with that, but do have constant vertigo and tinnitus. I hope you find something that will give you relief as constant background noise in your head can be fatiguing.

I just noticed you are a fan of the Crimson Tide. The mother of softball coach Pat Murphy is my neighbor. Great family. We are the fans of the Crimson Tide softball team in Iowa. Roll Tide! My husband made her a small wooden "Bama softball" sign to hang outside her door during the season.

Wow, I've never met anyone else that had Menieres! I've never heard of a chemical labyrinthectomy. I just looked it up and it said that it's only recommended for people with both ears affected. If it were me, I think I'd wait since your second ear hasn't been bothering you until recently. My right ear is plugged and has been ringing off the hook recently. It's driving me up the wall, but I would be too afraid of the side effects of the chemical labyrinthectomy to want to risk it.

My doctor keeps bringing this option up when I go see him and I keep telling him as long as I can tolerate this or treat it with a steroid shot I am not going to have this procedure done.

I never noticed it was reommended for people with both ears affected so that is another reason to not have it done right now.

FYI astronaut Alan Sheppard suffered from this and was grounded so he had the chemical labyrinthectomy performed and his Minieres cleared up and he was able to go into space.

I've been suffering with this disease for about 6-7 years. I have just learned to live with the constant ringing, noises and pain in my ears. It is the vertigo that I can't handle!! This last month was the worst...I had at least one vertigo attack every day and have been constantly dizzy. I find it impossible to exercise while this is going on, which has been really hindering my weight loss.

I have a friend that had a labyrinthectomy, and it worked for a while. However, he lost his hearing in that ear. Now all the symptoms have returned, including the vertigo. So now he is right back where he was, except he can no longer hear out of that ear.

I have been wondering where to turn with this disease, because it has really changed my life. My family is very supportive, but unless you suffer from this disease, you don't really understand how devastating it can be.

Good luck with what ever your decision is...I am very interested in how things turn out for you. (Hopefully good!)

At this point i'm not going to have this procedure done but my doctor wanted me to read up on it and do some research.

If the Vertigo comes back then I will have to seriously consider having this done.

Does anyone take any type of fluid pill for this?? I take one everyday and it helps, it's also a cheat on losing some water weight but that will be our little secret.

I take one every day, too. Not sure how much it really helps though. But it does help with the water weight haha

16 Years??? And I thought 6 was bad!

We were biking on a trail last night and I had an attack. Fortunately I was slowing down when it happened, so I didn't get hurt...my husband looked back and I was on the ground underneath my bike. I also fell on my treadmill last week...it looked so hilarious that we laughed ourselves silly! I have learned that when I have an attack and falll the only thing to do about it is to just laugh!!!

People that have never experienced Vertigo really don't understand how bad it is.

I tell people about it and they say oh so you get dizzy or light headed and I tell them no Vertigo is when you lie still and don't move at all because the room spins and you'll get sick.

I'm lucky that I haven't had any Vertigo in many years.
