Ok so I am having a moment ( hmm wonder if Tom is coming *sorry*) I have been so steady in working out and eating right and 24 lbs down so I know it is paying off.....BUT I don't feel like I am gaining any endurance
I work out for 1 hour 5-6 days a week on a tread climber. When I started 1 1/2 months ago I was doing it at like 2.3 (max) and was slowly going up. Over the last week I decided to throw in some changes. I did Core Secrets ( the big ball workout) and although I didn't burn NEARLY as many calories as normal (800-900 cals) I wanted to try some strength training stuff. Well the next 2 days I was SO sore I couldn't even walk up my stairs! So that was good cause I know my body worked hard. So the last 3 days I have done my tread climber and increase the speed to 3 mph at max...which is a big deal to me cause I couldn't last 30 sec. before at 3 mph. BUT today I go down and stretch and start my hour long journey and I felt like I just couldn't do it. I wasn't in pain it just felt SO hard...so I went at 2.8 and only worked 45 min. and felt like it was the hardest workout I have done in awhile? Am I going backwards? Shouldn't I feel like it is easier? Why did it seem harder the third day and not the 2 before? I am so discouraged and feel like I have failed today. This make sense to anyone?

Hey again....maybe your body just needs a rest! Especially after doing some strength training, cause I do believe you never really did strength before right? Your muscles are probably exhausted (the ones you don't normally work all the time). 45 mins counts is better than 0 mins, some days are better than others! Don't lose the motivation!!:bigsmile:0

Some days are just down days. Maybe you're coming down with something. Maybe you ate differently today than other days. Maybe you're a little dehydrated. Maybe you didn't sleep as well last night... It could be anything, including TOM. It's important that you listen to your body like you did. You didn't blow off the exercise, you just adjusted it.
About every 3 weeks or so, I just start getting tired (not TOM, I'm on perpetual BC, so I don't get them), and I spend an entire day in bed. I sleep probably 16 or 18 of the 24 hours. I don't know why I get this way, but I do, and I just give my body what it needs. Lots and lots of rest, evidently.
All in all, I guess I'm trying to say not to worry about it too much. Give your body a day off tomorrow, and I bet that you'll be back at 100% the next day.0 -
Sometimes, if you're pushing yourself too hard your body is just fatigued. It's trying to tell you something. Definitely try not to be too hard on yourself. This week my goal was to go to the gym twice a day. I did it! However, by Thursday morning my body was just tired, so I cut back my usual cardio by 10 minutes. I threw in some strength training for good measure. I don't feel guilty! I was tired Thursday morning and considered not going at all, because mym body was screaming "Please, no more!" BUT I have was on a mission this week, so I compromised and stuck to my goal, but eased up a bit. This morning my energy was back and I was able to do my full workout again!
Bottom line...don't be discouraged! You're doing great! Be positive about your body and your goals!0 -
no lol thats the only strength training and I kicked my bottom LOL I was sore in my bottom...I have never had a sore bottom LOL but I am kinda worried that if I do the SAME thing everyday my body will get used to it and stop losing...0

Maybe you are getting bored with your workout. Try something new for a week or two and then go back to your tread climber. Keep your workout fresh. I have about 10 dvds I workout with. I even have that Core Secrets . You can even go to the library and check some out. Exchange with your friends thanks what I do. You are doing a great job so far keep it up.0

I think it is good that you did some strength and you should do more! To max your calorie burn while strength training, do intervals of jumping rope, jumping jacks, or stairs for 1-2 mins in between. PLUS the strenght training has the added benefit of helping you reshape your body & burn more calories!0

You are totally right about your body getting used to it and you do have to switch it up every now and again. Once those muscles get stronger it won't hurt as much and when it stops hurting completey it's time to turn it up a notch.
You don't want to do just cardio, lean muscle burns fat - so keep up with the strength training. By just doing cardio everyday you are just going to start burning muscle tissue. Lean muscle burns fat even when you are just sitting around (actually more so after a workout than during).
Warm up by doing some jumping jacks, jump rope (pretend you have a rope), but kicks, etc then do your strength training, whether it be upper body 1 day, lower body the next or your Core Secrets, finish it off with 30 mins of cardio on your tread climber.
If you get bored with that, check out The Biggest Loser Cardio Max workout dvd....I just bought it recently and it's an awesome workout along with the 30 Day Shred!!0
