Is the online thing kinda Easy to follow?

  • the online experience is great if you are self disciplined. Another one to look at is Penn State. That's a great place to get an MBA (or bachelors). You'll get a load of real world experience plus Penn State has a great reputation with corporate recruiters.

It depends on what you are looking for. It's still expensive. You could do a community college online much cheaper to get some of the credits.

Western Nebraska Community College has classes for $106 per credit and they transfer to most places.

I finished my degree from UOP in July. Going to school online with any school requires attention to detail and organization. The big thing to keep in mind is that the classes are either 2 (1 credit courses) or 5 (3 credit courses) weeks long. Basically you are cramming an entire semester of learning into 5 weeks. This means papers that are due every single week in most classes. You also have learning teams because UOP realizes that there are many careers in which you work with others and need to work well so they try and help prepare you for that. This means that on top of your individual papers/presentations that are due each week you will also have team assignments for each class. Depending on the class the team assignments can range anywhere from 1 project during the class up to 5 - 7. Having gone to school at both a "traditional" school as well as online, I can honestly say that even though I took more credits at one time at the traditional school, the online courses were harder and I spent a lot more time doing classwork. The format is incredibly easy to follow and you will be given a syllabus at the beginning of every class that provides all of your assignments, details, and when they are due so you have ample time to prepare for each assignment. The teachers are crazy supportive and have experience in the field for the degree program they teach. Many of them have jobs outside of UOP so they have tons of first hand knowledge.

I loved going to UOP online but it isn't for everyone. It can be stressful and time consuming but I honestly gained more knowledge and experience going to school online than I think I would have going to a traditional college. The other thing is that the online program is expensive. It's $550 per credit if I remember correctly. So look into grants and scholorships. UOP has tons of resources available to help you locate them too. They also have a social community which is a great resource to talk to other students and faculty. I know a lot of people who went to UOP and hated the online format that part of your grade is based upon the team projects BUT teachers do watch the teams and every, single one of them will tell you that if someone doesn't pull their weight they know it and that person will not get the same grade as everyone else. I know of several instances where I received a higher grade than others in my team because I was the one doing the majority of the work.

Overall, I would say I had a positive experience with UOP. I have my B.S. in Criminal Justive Administration. I don't know which program you are looking at but I can say the CJA one was amazing.

Feel free to message me if you want to chat more.

Good luck with your decision and getting your degree!

@dragonbait0126,, thats kinda what I was looking for just so Idea of what I am getting myself in to if I got for it! $550 is a bit much but they offer all of what I want unlike the community college that are requiring Pre Req's and On campus time which with 5 kids and a Husband is nearly impossible for me!

The cost per credit is why i said look into grants and scholorships. Being married with 5 kids though, I would imagine that you would qualify for some type of federal grant like a Pell Grant or something of that nature. Talk to a financial advisor though and they can help you through all of that. The great thing about online school is that you go when you want to not when you have to. My husband was super supportive and having that support system will make it much easier. Plus since you have kids, you can all do your homework together and they can see what you are doing and the awesome example you are setting for them.

What degree program are you looking into if I may ask?

My son got his Electrical Technology AA degree in the military and had a great job as a civilian but didn't want to travel so much so he went to UOP and got his BS in Business Admin. using the GI Bill. He was promoted almost immediately after he got his degree and is line for another promotion within the year. He did a lot of his reading on airplanes and wrote a lot of papers in hotel rooms. His big complaint was people he had to do group projects with who didn't pull their own weight. He doesn't suffer fools gladly and hated when he had to do their research as well as his own in order to get a good group grade. The worst was when they had to do a group paper for ethics class on plagerism and one woman plagerised a huge chunck of her part. He caught it and burned her good with the teacher. This could have cost the whole group their grade in this class. :noway:

I took 3 math courses there. The online format is really easy to follow, I enjoyed all my classes. My mom has actually earned her Bachelor's Degree there. The only thing is that every class has a team assignment/paper/project. I never had any problems with my team, but it seems like in most of my mom's classes she had uncooperative teams. There was lack of communication, team members that just didn't do any work but wanted credit, etc. I've wanted to start on my Master's but I've been hesitant due to that fact.

Many CC do not require on campus time.

My advise with this is if you find a team you work well with stick with them! Many times going through a program you will end up with the same classmates in the majority of your classes. You can request to work with certain people and to not work with others. I never had a teacher who didn't respect those requests. Yes, there are some people who just don't work well in teams. If it gets out of hand you can try to work it out and if you just can't, then go to the teacher. That being said, don't let the actions of a few discourage you from accomplishing your goals.
