Sodium

Lets just say my sodium intake should only be 400 according to myfitnesspal. For this to work, should the goal be to keep it lower than what MFP is suggesting or should you be able just reach that level with no problems to your weight loss?
I drink alot of water but sodium is the one thing i watch for..

400mg?? A day??
This doesn't make too much sense, considering MFP usually automatically has your minimum set to 2500mg a day (which is pretty high, IMO).
I pay more attention to sodium than to calories, but changed my RDI to 1700mg (1500mg is what the Canadian Food Guide recommends though).0 -
The goals on MFP are meant to be met without exceeding.0

Wow! 400mg of sodium is your target!?
Mine is 1200mg and that is my Doctor's recommendation. For me, I need to set the sodium level as MFP defaults to 2500 mg.
Personally, I have found it much easier to hit my daily calories than my recommended sodium level. If your suggested daily sodium intake is 400mg, you may find it a struggle to find foods low enough in sodium to be successful.
For example, a single slice of 12 grain bread will set you back 250 + mg of sodium. Depending on the brand, a bowl of canned soup will hit you with over 600mg!
BTW: I am at 1200 mg to help me deal with high blood pressure.
Good luck!0 -
i was giving an example because i didnt want to leave.. i should have said an example but mine is actually 2500.(MFP daily goal)0
