Nice little "pick-me-up"

I joined the gym two weeks ago tomorrow, and I've been working out almost every day. Had a little bout with a stomach bug for a couple of days, but still lost 10 pounds in the two weeks. I even bumped up the level on the elliptical today ('bout killed me, but I pushed through it!).
Anyway, I've started taking my lunch break late (about 2:00) because there's hardly anyone in the gym at that time. Today, an older gentleman came in who's in there most days around that same time. He is very stocky, but it's all muscle; you can tell he's been working out for a long time. I finished my time on the elliptical, did my crunches on the fitness ball, and headed for the weight machines. He stopped me and said he'd been noticing me working out and that I should just keep digging deep. He said I was a beautiful woman (?!) and that if I keep at it, in 6 months to a year, I'll be in great shape! I so appreciated him taking time out of his workout to say a few words of encouragement to a total stranger. He also offered to help me any time I needed assistance. Turns out, too, he knows someone from my church whose daughter is a friend of my daughter's. Small towns...

That's nice! Most people are afraid to talk to strangers or just don't do it for whatever reason, but a little support and encouragement and nice words can make you so happy
Also - good for you!0 -
