I need some opinions. I have been tracking my calorie burn. This morning, my watch indicated that I had burned 844 calories in 45 minutes of Turbo Party. My coworkers seem to think that that is too many calories to burn in 45 minutes of cardio. What do you guys think? Has any of you burned that much in a 45 minutes cardio workout? Let me know please.

What sort of watch? Does it have a chest strap? Yes it sounds high, but if you are very overweight the numbers would be higher.
  • I've burned over 1000 in that time. It depends on your age, sex, and (probably most important) weight.

Agree with rileysowner. HRM with chest straps are the most accurate and depending on your output and size your calorie burn will be higher. Was this your first day doing this workout?

sounds high to me... i can burn 409 or a little more in 48 minutes that is with HRM. But if i do more say like 600 i have to go for over an hour. It sounds high unless you have a lot to lose then it may be right.

I just burned 980 riding a bike for 65 minutes. For 45 minutes of intense cardio, like Insanity, I'm usually in the 700 range, give or take 50, and I'm not overweight. I wouldn't say it's necessarily too much, but it might be a little high. Is your HRM configured properly with your stats? Height, weight, age? Also, remember to calculate your RMR (resting metabolic rate). You can do that here. It's the amount of calories you'd burn if you were just laying on your back breathing, and nothing else. For me, thats about 80 calories, so subtracting that from your number you get 764.
  • I have a hrm with a chest strap and I burn about the same as you. Il

i'll burn like 1000 in that much time on my bike, so yeah, 800ish seems right.
