What I have been doing for myself is a Sun thru Fri workout, giving me Saturday as an 'off' day.
I will do weight lifting on Mon, Wed, and Fri. This is at least 30 mins with a resistance band, stability ball, bodyweight movements, or dumbells. I look online for new ideas and new exercises to try out and focus on good form rather than many reps. I feel it is better to do perfect form and few reps than sloppy form and a lot of reps.
On Tues and Thurs I jog for 30 mins or more. I have been doing about 3 miles those days, but if you are beginner try to go for walks or jogging for short periods, 5 mins, 8 mins, as you get stronger you can jog longer without breaks.
On Sunday is my long run. It was 3 miles at one point, now it is up to 4.
This is just what I do, I suggest it to you because I really enjoy working out and it is something that incorporates weight training (VERY important) as well as a good calorie burning cardio.0 -
Hi, congrats on working out 4 days a week! I found that when I did only cardio, I didn't lose much weight. In fact, you lose more weight and faster if you build muscle because it will increase your metabolism, and muscle, even when you are sitting and doing nothing, burns more calories for you.
I started doing a 60 minute weight lifting class twice a week and I started seeing results. Then I got severe rheumatoid arthritis and I had to quit all exercise for quite some time. Now I am rebuilding muscle again with the help of a trainer. My point is, no matter your physical condition, you can do some form of strength training. I found working with a trainer very helpful to get started with strength training again without injuring myself or causing a flare-up of arthritis. However, if this is not possible for you, I recommend trying a strength training class, DVD or even checking out an exercise magazine for guidance so you don't injure yourself.
Now I do strength training with the trainer twice a week plus I run at least 4 days a week and I am seeing results consistently. I hope this helps!

I love cardio, so I do more cardio than strength training. Don't get me wrong, I do strength training, but I prefer cardio strength/cardio sculpt over strength training.
How many days are you able to workout. I believe in working out 5 days a week and resting 2 days. I'm doing a 30 Day Tae Bo program that I have created. I have three days left. I've set my schedule to workout Monday-Friday and be off on Saturday and Sunday. I like this route. I think I will continue to have Saturday and Sunday as my rest days. I use to rest whenever I felt like resting.0
