I have a question. I am burning 250 or so calories a day. I do a 20 minute tape with weights (131 calories burned) and then I ride my bike 20 mins (125 Calories burned). Am I burning enough calories for the day. I have my calories set at 1200 and never go over them and most of the time I don't eat my calories burned. Does anyone have any advise!
Thank you, Jennifer

  • well the advice I got for basically the same problem (ie: not eating enough calories during the day) was to increase my caloric intake which I know sounds silly but it makes sense because you dont want to starve your body. Doing so will make you store fat instead of burn fat. Im fairly active at work (Im a construction electrician with a busy job) and I also run for 1/2 hour each night with push ups and ab crunches as well and Im burning around 400 -450 cals with my workout. Im supposed to consume around 2400 cals per day but I never come close and it's apparently not the way to go. I personally thing you're fine in your cal burning range if you're not even coming close to going over your needed daily cal intake. Just my opinion though Im not a professional by any means and Im also new to this, just thought I'd offer my insight.
  • When it comes to diets there is one thing i do know......do what works for you. Then you have to trick your body by burning more calories. What is working for me right now is burning more calories than i eat. I also do not eat all my calories. Now do not think i am starving myself i eat when i am hungry but they are smaller portions than i am used to (like only one egg salad sandwhich instead of two). I know that I will at sometime hit that dreaded plateau, thats when i will spend more time with cardiovascular and drink more water. I have a manual treadmill at home the only thing electronic about it is the recording of my speed, distance and calories burned. It also is set for a slight incline so it doesn't feel like i am walking uphill. And sweating is a good thing ,the more you sweat the better!!!!! So far I have lost 6lbs and an 1 1/2 inch off my waist. Good luck! Hope this helps!
