Does anyone on here use the stairmaster? Not the one that has the actual stairs where, but more of like the stair stepper. I've used it the last few days at the gym and I don't currently have a HRM so I'm not sure what my ACTUAL calories burned are. I sweat insane amounts on this machine and my heart rate is definitely elevated the whole time. I did it for 20 minutes yesterday and it said I burned 203 calories. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Can anyone who uses this machine with a HRM tell me what they usually burn?

I'm hoping if I use this machine enough I'll get some more tone in my upper legs and butt :)

    It depends on height, weight, intensity and resistance. Without that nobody would know. Without a hrm you'd go by what mfp says or the machine if you entered your info.

    I love the steppy stairmaster, but usually am huffing and puffing so bad that I never make it past 12 minutes.

    According to the HRM, If I keep at it for about 10 minutes, I'll burn about 90 calories...so yes, 203 seems about right.
    Of course it all depends on your height/weight/age/yadda yadda yadda
    But you must be doing something right to have lost 45 lbs!

    Can you feel the burn in you bum after you're through?

    I do not have a HRM or Stair Master but I do have stairs in my house. I have looked online and it says that for every (1) minute walking up and down the stairs you burn 10 calories. So your figures look accurate to me. I will climb up and down the stairs a couple times a week for some extra calorie burning and these are the figures I use. Hope this helps.

    Occasionally I can feel the burn in my bum afterwards! That's what I'm looking for though. A burn to know that something is working my buttocks... lol. Maybe I need to take longer steps!
