I have signed up for the Warrior Dash on Oct. 15th in MO. I wanted to wear my HRM, but did not want to break it after I clean all the mud off of it. Has anyone worn theirs? Any Luck? Otherwise I will just put what I usually burn for a 5K.

#1 You will burn WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than you ever have doing a 5k. It's brutal, awesome, but brutal.

#2 I was curious too but decided to forgo my HRM, and when I got there I was very happy I did. I had to throw my clothes away they were so disgusting. The stagnant muddy water is what will get ya. I would leave it home, it's too expensive to be worth ruining.

Good luck! I loved every second and can't wait to do it again next year.

i wouldn't risk ruining it...i got very wet and dirty during the two warrior dashes and the one beachpalooza i've done. Id just say you burn whatever you do during a normal 5k and call it a day.

You'll probably burn about the same amount of calories because the obstacles slow you down (they really arent too hard)

Hope you have fun! I blogged about my last warrior dash if you want to see some pictures: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/AggieCass09/view/warrior-dash-2k11-83643
my default picture is from the beachpalooza---like the WD but on the beach

Average 5k? I thought I was in good shape, but ya'll must be fierce. A 5k is cake these days, but the dash took me twice as long and I was sore for a week after. Does anywhere else have you run up a ski slope for the first mile?

Having done the Warrior Dash, I would not recommend taking the HRM unless you wouldn't mind taking a chance on having to pay for a new one. You're going through mud and crawling over some hard surfaces. My suggestion would be to simply enjoy the race and use the HRM another time. Take care and enjoy!

    How did it go?

I thinking of doing the one that is over here in the KC area in May. I am so nervous about the idea.
