Thought I'd just lay it all out there, it's coming up on the first holiday of the season, Halloween!! Going to the grocery store has been a My Fitness Pal catastrophe waiting to happen! I swear, on every isle I pass there's some kind of baked good staring me right in the face along with the gobs of candy overflowing the shelves!!! I need HELP! Oh yeah, did I forget to mention this next weekend I'm going to a family get together where there's a chili cook off as well as DESSERT JUDGING!? AHHH!

How do you all stay in line for the holidays?! I'm afraid I'm going to go overboard on all the sweets, give into temptations that will stall my weight loss!!

Tonight I saw wait staff at a restaurant walk past my table with a decadent chocolate truffle cake with chocolate cream and chocolate curls, and a cream cake garnished with raspberry syrup and fresh raspberries.

I found myself thinking about all the work I've done so far and where I want to be in May. Suddenly that cake (those cakes) didn't seem as tempting.

Oh, and I just walked past a 1/2 pan of brownies and extra Salisbury steak...now there's my piece of cake!!!

I am glad you posted this! i came home from the store tonight and felt so weak. I was so tempted. I did not give in, but I came VERY close!
Add to the mix a husband that buys all kinds of Entemans, candy, and Nestles toll house cookies!
  • i dont have a hard time right now. yea i love those reese pumpkins just as much as the next person, but this year is my son's first year to get to trick or treat. so i dont have to buy candy since nobody will be home to pass it out. so that saves me. thanksgiving goodies SCREAM my name every time i walk by! and i might have a piece or 2 of one dessert or another, but i make my hubby share with me. and my son makes me share with him, so i dont eat it all. christmas candies and cookies, i just have to remind myself that i will hate myself if i undo all my hard work for something so petty. but fudge is my weakness during holidays! and sometimes a bite or 2 sneaks its way onto my plate. =)

See, I've tried to have that kind of thinking, the I will regret this later and undo my progress way of thinking. Sometimes, like tonight, that didn't work so much. I was ABOUT to give in and buy some frosted Halloween cookies they had at Walmart but then I thought, well, they're not individually wrapped and because of that I'll go overboard and eat all of them! So instead I settled and bought the Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Cookies, they're individually wrapped therefore they'll make me feel twice as guilty if I did reach for another to unwrap and eat. (if that at all makes sense)

YES! I have that problem with overeating as well! They have to be individually wrapped or else...I'm out of control!!!

As a proponent of moderation rather than omission, I'd make myself a bowl--a cute jack-o-lantern bucket!-- of "fun sized" candies that can be eaten throughout the day/week. Depending on how much you trust yourself not to eat the entire thing, put a few in each day or fill it up as much as you want.
