I have been in that place where you are jealous of other people's successes. Just sitting there wishing that good things could happen for me too. Waiting for my "Biggest Loser" moment. The best thing for me was to just go out there and make myself do it. The more I talk about exercise with friends, family, co-workers and strangers the more people tell me that I am motivating them and that makes me feel even more motivated. No one can MAKE you go out and do what you know you need to do... You know what you need to do... Just do it. Think about how great it makes you feel afterward. It can be boring and tedious at times but what a sence of accomplishment afterwards right? I sat around and waited until I was 36 years old and over 300 pounds because I was waiting for someone to say the right words to motivate me... I waited for someone to grab me and pull me aside and say come on! This is what you are going to eat and this is when you are going to exercise.... I waited and waited and guess what? It just doesn't happen that way. YOU have to be the one to tell yourself that it's time. It's time to take charge of your decisions and actions and surround yourself with positive people that want the same healthier lifestyle that you want too.... I hope I don't sound harsh or mean, I just wish I thought this way years ago.
Stranger with a heart, Jodie

    Jodie,

Wow, no better words spoken! I feel your words and passion. I was/am much like you. Not making any changes or strides, just hoping that IT would happen. I wanted to lose weight, get fit, get happy and BE the person I wanted to be by just waking up in the morning. (Isn’t that a definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over hoping for different results?) Well, turning 50 was the reality slap in the face I needed. I am now my own motivator, besides the thousands on MFP. If I want to change, I have to do it myself, and not be too embarrassed or proud to ask fellow supporters, friends and loved ones to love me enough to help me through this incredible journey. Good luck Jodie, rock it!

MFP is a great place to surround yourself with people that have a common goal !!!! You are embracing a lifestyle change and it will become contagious to most and envied by others. You will influence many people with your journey !!!
