Beyond Frustrated

What do you do when you work your *kitten* off, only to see negative results? I understand that as a human being, I am not perfect. I do not make wise decisions 100% of the time; however, I do the best that I can do for the situation I'm presented with.

Working and going to school full time, put on top of taking care of house maintenance, sleeping in my car after getting kicked out of my house, and trying to keep positive relationships, has seriously impacted my schedule for losing weight and getting fit. I don't always have time to cook a decent meal or go on walks daily, but I do try my best to get some sort of activity in and fill my body with naturally healthy meals. Sometimes I'm just so tired and worn, and I feel as if my body is being ripped to shreds from how much I push it.

I'm starting to feel that this "lifestyle" everyone talks about (eating healthy, exercising daily, being strong), is a load of B.S. I am not going to be happy if I have to obsess over logging every single calorie, not missing a single workout, and drinking enough water in 24 hours to make me want to puke.

I'm sick of being the fat girl, but I'm also starting to doubt whether being the thin girl is for me: constant hunger pangs, cravings, reduced energy, bloating, weight GAIN, stress, depression...are these normal side effects for making a supposed positive change to your life? If I'm doing everything in my power to change my bad habits, why am I reaping punishment? I just don't understand. Watching my friends go out and do whatever they please while I stay at home and watch my sodium and calorie intake just isn't doing it for me.

Here's to being demotivated!

Aye yi yi lady! It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now. I know that all of this seems incredibly hard and, trust me, it can be really frustrating at times. But there are ways to make it a little easier on yourself. If you need to talk or vent ever more you're more than welcome to message me :)

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a tough time :( It sounds like you're trying to do the best you can, and that's all you can do. But think about this-if you decide to give up because being the "thin girl" isn't for you, is that going to make you any happier than you already are? Chances are, it won't.

In my humble opinion, I think you are doing the best you can with the circumstances you currently have. I personally do not have the time or availibility either to obsess over every single calore, workout or glass of water, and I don't really worry about that because I know if I keep plugging away at it, I will see results.

Please don't give up. You will see results if you keep going. But if you quit, you will be right back where you started.

It's not a load of BS and it's not about being perfect. You don't have to drink "enough water in 24 hours to make you want to puke". 6 or 8 cups is plenty.

Sounds like you're stressed right now about a lot of things. Here's hoping you are able to make decisions that make your life better ASAP. Good luck!

P.S.: If you're anything like me, next week will be a totally different story! Things will turn around soon. They always do!

PLEASE take a moment and be kind to yourself!

I know that it sounds kind of hokey, but you are where you are in life and you have to embrace that (but that doesn't necessarily mean accept/ tolerate). "Constant hunger pangs, cravings, reduced energy, bloating, weight GAIN, stress, depression" are NOT normal side effects for making a positive change, but for me, it was an indicator that I had some other work to do before getting healthy physically. I won't dispense a whole lot of psycho-babble on you but what I will share is what I have gleaned from my own journey through life.

I have been where you are emotionally- it sucks! No argument there. In the past. getting "healthy" was all I thought about; I tried so hard but without any luck. Now, I have gotten healthy and fit; I have worked hard but I've been successful. I think things have clicked for me this time because I worked on the crap that was behind my relationship with food (lots o' emotional baggage). I put in place what I personally needed to be successful (which included support in the form of friends & workout partners etc.). I got to a good place in my head and then life flowed naturally; the road wasn't suddenly paved with gold and I still had/ have my share of stress/ problems but for whatever reason, I'm making it.

I only hope that you find your way; if you want to talk more, I am here to listen and help where I can. Do not hesitate to send a friend request/ message.

    Amy
  • I have a horrible food addiction and an issue with consuming fluids...I use food as a reward for my hard work and comfort from stress. Not to mention I'm chronically dehydrated, which is why even 4 cups of water per day is difficult. I do the best I can, but I am so afraid of gaining weight.

It sounds like you just diagnosed your problems. Try to make small changes to the way you "treat" yourself (a new necklace? A movie with the girls? A hour sans cell phone in the park with your dog?) Eventually, you will start to view food as "fuel"- not a special treat (although, sometimes- once you have gotten it under control- it can be!)

I know many people out there have strong opinions on artificial sweeteners and the like, but one thing that helps me get all of MY water is Crystal Light. Find a flavor you like and drink that! I am also a big fan of herbal teas (sometimes with a bit of honey) as a treat in the evenings. That is a great way to cut your sweet cravings after dinner and also to get in extra servings of water!

I hope that this helps give you some ideas! Know that there are others who are having/ have had the same feelings regarding food... we are here to help you!
