Just had my big "50" birthday and need to start taking care of myself. As a nurse we are the worst at that. Need help and any advice. Has anyone ever tried walking clubs?

I'm a 40+ mom of three. I'm sick and tired of having the same New Years goal year after year. This time I want to be successful. I'd like to get to the place where healthy eating is a life style and not just something to do to drop a quick 10 pounds. I'm in it for the long run... looking for friends to join the journey. Suggestions are helpful.0

Hi, and welcome!
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off!
Also, drink lots of water, that seems to help alot too. :drinker:
I don't know anything about walking clubs, but, when the weather cooperates, that's one of my main exercises, walking a half hour or so a day. I also dance around my living room to an "oldies" CD that my husband made for me, with all my favorite old songs. It's fun, doesn't depend on the weather, and I can also watch tv too, so I'm never bored!
I'm sure you'll be an MFP addict and a "loser" like the rest of us in no time! :laugh:0 -
Thanks so much for the quick response!! I would love to share this journey with you. I too have done the up and down thing. What do you think causes you to not stay on track? My problem is all my life was able to eat anything and never gain a pound. For some reason, I still have that bad habit and mentality. Was also taking care of my Dad in our home and did a lot of comfort eating late at night. Also need to cut out the Starbucks. The treat I think I deserve ugh!0

Welcome new people! Glad to have you!:flowerforyou: I wish I could find a walking club or at least a workout bud to go with me to the gym It's so hard to match up schedules with people. Good Luck finding one!
