Your BMR is the base amount of calories, assuming that you haven't had ANY activity in a given day. ARe you speaking of your BMR or the daily requirement that this site gives you?

Here's a link to a very good site for figuring out your daily caloric requirement, either to maintain or lose.

I am just learning about all this fun stuff as well! Okay your bmr is the calories your body burns as if you stay in bed all day, to your bmr you + daily activities and + calories burned through exercise, then subtract that # by 500...and that is your proper amount to lose weight, sticking close to that # you will lose weight and keep your metabolism high...hope that helps!
