Hello Everyone,
I am looking for a good protien supplement . I want something with around 20 or more grams of protein in it per serving. Right now Im finishing up my husbands unused "BSN" "Snytha 6" protein- I do like it but it is kinda expensive and high in calories -for a woman. What are some good brands? Also looking for maybe a weight loss/nutritional blend . I know "shakeology" is really good and I do love herbs but its too expensive for me at this point.Thank you for your opinions!!!

Target has its own brand of whey protein powder. Only 140 calories per scoop and 25g protein. Only $16 for 2lbs.
  • I use Aussie Bodies 100% whey. per 30g serve 23.2g protein and 2.2g carbs. 122calories per serve.

I have no doubt you will have many replies to this, but I like 'Permier Nutition' as it gives me 160 cals, and 30gr of protein per 11oz of shake that is ready to go. While I have some that I can use in a blender and such, I need the abiltiy to pick somethng up on the 'go'. I purchase mine at Sam's club, but I am sure you can find it at other locations by checking their website if interested. They are in pkg of 12, for $17.58 which is $1.46 per drink, which not too bad. I have tried EAS and many others, the thing I like about this one is the 30gr for 160 cals, which is very hard to find.

    Optimum Nutrition Double rich chocolate.

Here's a link to the 5lb container that I order off of Amazon for $46.99. 120 calories, 1.5g of fat & 24g of protein per scoop.

I use Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey.
Not a bad price, 24g protein, 110-130 cals per scoop (depending on flavour) 1-3g carbs, around 1g fat. Really easy to drink with lots of flavours :)

I'm using Optimum Nutrition 100% Egg protein powder. 1 scoop is 110 cal, 24g of Protien, 2g Carbs. I love it. The vanilla custard with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and a scoop of frozen berries is my favorite meal right now. :)

The best protein powder mix I have found is novuslife. It is simply bulk pure whey protein isolate. No sugar added and unflavored. It mixes well and since it is just protein, its also good for cooking. Imagine baking ultra high protein muffins etc.

    Good luck!

Beveraly International Muscle Provider is a straight forward protein powder.

But, getting back to the cost. My experience is that if you want the nutritional benefit in addition to the protein, you will probably have to go for the money to get it. There is a lot of junk out there and it's funny you mentioned Shakeology, I think it is probably one of the most well rounded shake sources out there for what you are looking for.

Think about this....when a person goes to McDonalds, BK or any other fast food joint, it's about $5 plus tax for the combo meal which includes about 2000-3000 cals a meal.

If you paid full price for the shakeology, it's $5 a shake at 140-150 cals with all the beneifts.

There is another product that I have used that works well with women but it's pricey too. Again, quality vs. cheap products. It's called Vega and is a vegan product that is outstanding. That runs about $10 less or so than the shakeology but doesnt taste or blend as well.

I am sure you will find something that works. Just consider your worth the extra money. If you want it to be affordable, you can find a way.

    Best,

  • Jay Robb is a great brand if you have any health problem like diabetes type 2, or PCOS/Insulin resistance. It's sweeten with Stevia instead of sugar/artificial sugars, 110 cals. It's $25 at GNC. ...best wishes.

I use either Now Sports Whey Protein Isolate or Biochem Whey Protein Isolate. Both are higher in quality when compared to Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. Both are 100% pure whey isolate, no concentrated crap.

One gram of protein contains 4 calories, period. One serving of Now Sports is 28g and it contains 105 calories and provides 25g of protein. That's as pure as you're going to find. Biochem is the same. Both are VERY low in carbs (~1g).

I buy the Natural flavor because I don't want artificial sweeteners or colors; I get enough of that with other foods/drinks. It tastes awful with just plain water so I mix it with Crystal Light Pure and it's delicious. I've also mixed it with milk.

I buy whichever one is cheaper at the moment on Amazon.com. Prices seem to vary daily and I never pay for shipping.

"Beverly International" Ultimate Muscle Protein is amazing. It has 20 grams of protein and many different flavors but my favorite is the vanilla. You can drink it alone mixed with water and ice in the blender or add fresh or frozen berries. There are even recipes to cook with it.
I buy it from my friend who is a personal trainer or from a local spa that has a gym that sells it.
