I really want to get a heart rate monitor, but don't know where to go or what is good in terms of them. In my spinning class at the campus gym, we're provided Polar chest-strapped monitors, and those are the only kind I've used... what other ones are good?

I just bought a Suunto. Um'ed and argh'ed for months, glad I waited. Able to program via the computer for all kinds of exercise, tells me when I should train and when I should rest. Bought it with a footpod which tracks speed, candence and so on.
Found it, the strap and the footpod waterproof during a river crossing yesterday.0 -
I have a Polar FT7 which I love and my friend uses a Garmin (not sure which model) because she also wanted the GPS capabillity. Kinda wish I had that too, but I have my iPhone for that. Anyway, anything by those two brands I've heard nothing but positive things about.0
