Ok when you do cardio and start losing calories whaen you go to plug them into your exercise diary do you go by how many calories the machine said you burned or by what MFP says you burned?

Neither are accurate, get a heart rate monitor.0

I have the added problem of my HRM, machine and MFP say different numbers.
Generally if they are within 10% of eachother I'll go with the lower end to be on the cautious side.
If they are all quite different I will probably take the lowest number and add 10-20%0 -
Since you don't have a HRM, go with the machine. Trust it.0

MFP says to put in what the treadmill says you burned, assuming you enter your info into the treadmill when you start. I use the cardio funciton and it tracks how long I am at my target heart rate, etc. So I usually change it to what the treadmill says, my heart rate monitor is usually pretty close.0

I go by the machine--esp. if it's one that let me plug in my weight and age. I've found they're usually pretty close. If it's a big discrepency I also double check on health status for a "third opinion."

My heart rate monitor is usually closer to the MFP calculation than the Machines so I just use that one0

I definitely agree with the hrm. I went to target and got a decent one. my hrm is never as high as either mfp or the machine readout, maybe 1 whole time the hrm and machine readout matched.0
