I have two scales and I hate them both. They never read right.
I go to the doc and it stated 214
I thought woo hoo
I waigh my self about a month later on my digital and it said 230?
I weight in to rejoin mfp and it stated 235?
Then two sats ago it was back down to 230... woo hoo
I just weighted in agaon and it stated 238.5??
WTF!!!!!!!
Then I weighed myself on my plain jane scale, not digital and it says 231??
OMG!!! I am so lost.
I think I am going to break down and get one of those fancy scales that RUBY uses....
I am ove this.
I know I'm not gaining. My pants are loose and I am on Atkins, strict and all....
How can I wake up fatter???
I go to the doc and it stated 214

I'm not sure what they are called, but I weigh myself at the gym on the balancing scales. That's the number I go by0

1. pick ONE scale to use, and only that one.
2. weight is not the only thing. if your clothes are fitting looser, you are losing mass, but if you are working out, you are replacing fat with denser muscle. the scale could go up and at the same time, your body is becoming tighter and leaner.
3. atkins is a strict, hard-on-your-body regiment. you can lose weight just as effectively eating a variety of foods. See my ticker for proof. carbs are not the enemy. your body needs a mixture of carbs, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins, and water to function at it's best.
don't get discouraged, keep choosing healthy for yourself and your body and results will reflect it.
Good Luck!0 -
This happens to me all the time. I fluctuate on the scale like crazy. Lately i've started to keep it consistent and just weigh myself when i wake up (on the same scale) everyday without any clothes. I've noticed I'll weigh differently (3-5 pounds) throughout the day which i do not understand. So confusing...0

scale is the  pour water on it.0

get rid of all your scales. why are you weighing yourself anyway?
when I train people I have a starting weight-in thats it we don't even look at the scale for another 3 months.
So what do you go by? how you feel. how are your cloths fitting. can you walk up 5 flights of steps.
TRY IT ....................................................screw that scale:laugh:    :laugh:0 -
Weigh only once a week and do realize weight fluctuations are due to water and salt intake, building muscle mass, TOM (for women), etc...If you are eating correctly and exercising everyday, there is no need to become overly obsessed with the number on the scale. It will reflect your work. It just takes time. And the less weight you have to lose, the harder it is to get it off. When I started, the weight was just flying off. Now, I celebrate IMMENSELY when I lose 5 pounds!! Remember, it is cliche to say, but true, the weight didn't come on overnight, thus, it will not all come off overnight!!
Good luck and keep at it!!

stick to the plain jane scale, or one that uses the little weight you slide across. digital ones are always messing up for me it seems. all scales are a bit different though. at the gym I always weigh 4 lbs more than I do at home, lol:laugh:0

I bet if you took your scale into your doctors office - stood on their scale, then stand on yours. You'll see the difference and you can go from there. I know it sounds weird but my friend did it. Her doc's office is quite busy but she just went in and explained she wanted to see the difference between the 2 scales. They let her use theirs. Just a thought??
Or just pick 1 scale and go with it. Make it your constant. It's been posted I think on these boards that you can wake up and be 2 pounds heavier.
Also, since your on atkins - becareful with your salt intake. Salt could be making you retain water.
Make sure you're drinking lots of water too - to flush out everything.

Watch that ATKINS! I've done it before and lost alot of weight fast for my wedding. As soon as i went back to actually eating real food, my toes and calf muscles would tingle if I had to much sugar and I gained more weight back than when I started. MFP is a God send. I lost more healthy weight by exercising 6 days a week and eating my calories. Try that for this week and let us know what happens. By the WAY YOU CAN EAT WHAT YOU WANT ON MFP!0

Just wondering what you decided to do with your scale delimma?0

I hate scales too. I guess to see if yours at home is accurate you can use a dumbell??
I refuse to get on the scale at the doctors office when I go because I know it won't be accurate after I've been drinking water all day.0 -
bought one that is a little more expensive and it works!!!!!
8 lbs gone and it matches the one at the doc too0
