P90X vs. Personal Trainer

I hired a trainer for 12 sessions because I was lifting my max on all the machines and wanted to move up to free weights/pulleys but wasn't sure what to do. She's kicking my butt, and I am definitely feeling the burn - going three times a week for the next month.
I have been watching P90X videos and I am intrigued. It would cost me less than another month with the trainer, even with all the equipment that comes with it.
I do like the trainer - she pushes me, definitely - makes me finish sets and I'm doing stuff with her I would not stick with on my own.
Is P90X worth it? A good investment?

You will have to be your own pusher! I did p90x for 30 days and lost inches!!! So I am getting it back out and plan to make it work for me. The only issue I have is that I have to do a less Cardio than he does and I can't do most of the Yoga due to carpal tunnel, so I do Tai Chi. Just slip what you want in for what you feel you can't do and you will get the same result.

Nothing can replace a GOOD personal trainer. However, P90X comes damn close. I would say try it. You get 90 Days to return it, and you get a personal Coach if you order through Team Beachbody.0

Personally, I started on P90X, then after a year of doing that over and over (and yeah, it helped alot!), I started going to a trainer to get to the next level. I guess it's all personal preference
P90X is an excellent workout system, at least as far as I'm concerned, but I like my trainer better.0 -
I think it is! I vascilated for over a year before I bought it, and I am so glad I did. My husband and I are in our 4th week of the program, and I see and feel results. I recommend it.0

Good luck on your 5k run!!0 -
I say stick with your personal trainer. If you want to buy P90x and try it out, then go for it. But don't replace your personal trainer with the workout. A personal trainer knows how to take their client to the next level. A workout can't do that.
I'm my own personal trainer (not certified yet) and I have other personal trainers (workout instructors) as well.
I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this, but a Beach Body Coach is not the same as a personal trainer. A lot of Beach Body Coaches don't know anything about fitness and a lot of them are overweight. A person has to get certified to become a personal trainer, but all a person has to do to become a Beach Body Coach is pay a monthly fee to Beach Body and sell Beach Body Products.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Beach Body Coaches. I know some sweet Beach Body Coaches. I just wanted people to know what a Beach Body Coach is. I want to note that some Beach Body coaches know about fitness.0 -
What works for me with P90X is scheduling. My work schedule varies quite a bit and, with 3 hours a day commuting time, my schedule just prevents me from adding even more time going to the gym. I've got everything I need downstairs so I can go down late at night or early in the morning and know that I can get in a very good workout. I've found it to be a very good investment and it will be available to me for years to come. I'm not sure what the expense is with a personal trainer, but to get that person for 6 days a week, as you have with the program, could tack on a lot of expense. Whatever route you decide to pursue, I hope you get great results.0

Have you considered a modified P90X program with the personal trainer? I own P90X and followed it faithfully for a month but am a runner at heart. I stopped since it gave me no time to run. I friend recently introduced me to a modified P90X program that subs running for cardio workouts 3X/wk. I'm into week 3 and loving it. I'm a physical therapist and know how to exercise but videos push me to the next level. I think a good personal trainer will push you to do more. What do you do on days you don't see the trainer? You may want to take a 4 or 6 week break from the trainer to purchase P90X and see what it will do for you. The cardio DVDs are good and could supplement workouts with trainer... Good luck.0
