I'm only a few pounds away from my weight in high school, but I'm much more fit and am a few sizes smaller in dress size. I wasn't exactly a bump on the log in high school either! I was on the Pom-pon squad and I walked *everywhere* so I wasn't out of shape. But now, I'm much slimmer. The only thing is that my tummy was much flatter in high school and I have more cellulite now. Everything else is tighter and slimmer.
I thought I heard where the older you got, the less in shape you looked at the same weight you were when you were younger.
Anyone else in the best shape of their life? I'm 27, btw. Not exactly "older" but not a spring chicken either!:blushing:

I was an absolute inactive BLOB in high school.
Hell yeah, I'm in better shape now than I was then!0 -

ditto! such a great feeling0 -
I'm a little less than high school but this time I'm actually working out and eating....def in better shape. Main difference though is from having a baby, my hips are wider than they were in high school...0

Hey Ladies! There is hope for us, I'm 47 and am in the best shape of my life AND I had a baby at 45!
I also was no slouch in HS either, I ran track and swam so I was thin and in shape (or so I thought).
I credit Beachbody workouts to my success.

I'm definitely fitter than I was in high school. This weekend I finally hit 51 lbs off my body frame. :drinker: I am at my high school weight except back in high school I was a size 13/14 & 15/16. This time I can fit in size 9/10 :noway:0

OH I dont even compare to what I was in HS!! I am about the same weight ....but I was an inactive teenager, never played a sport.....just hung out with friends and giggled!! IF i could do ONE thing over again, i would go back to then and play sports (RUNNING) and been more athletic, My parents never had me in anything softball, dance, gymnastics....nothing!
because now at "almost" age 40, I now know that I can do it, back then I never even tried!0 -
I'm going to compare to both high school/college.
It depends on how you want to define it. I was a sprinter/hurdler back in those days, I was in great shape, fast & lean.
But now I run long distance to stay in shape. My 5K times are just as fast if not faster than back then, and I can go much farther at faster paces than back then, but I'm sure my flat out sprint speed has declined. Body weight & fat % are very similar. My diet is FAR healthier now.0 -
In highschool I was not fit, I swam but really I was chubby, and couldn't run, and I barely did any activity.
Now I run 3 times a week, I've done 2 5k's in the last few months, and I'm able to keep up or go faster than everyone else! Kayaking/hiking are also things I try to do semi regularly. never was like this in HS0 -
Not there yet, but working on it!0

29 here, turning 30 in a few weeks. I'm in the best shape of my life, and I know it's about to get better (MUCH better) from here.
Hell, I currently weigh 5 pounds less than I did in 8th grade, and my waist is a few inches smaller than it was in 8th grade.I was an absolute inactive BLOB in high school.
Hell yeah, I'm in better shape now than I was then!0 -
I definitely am. I weigh more but I couldn't do what I do now in HS. Plus in HS i smoked a lot, drank a lot and occasionally did other stuff too. Now, I don't.0
-
Definitely in better shape than I was in HS. I weigh less now than I did as a freshman is HS.0
-
I am definitely more muscular, but I was quite thin/athletic in HS.
I am probably much more athletic now, but I probably have a little more BF than I did at around age 160 -
I weighed probably 12 pds or so lighter (my goal weight as long as I can keep my muscle otherwise Id take the weight IM at now with less inches:) and worked out some but not like I do now. I wore about 2 sizes smaller. I definitely am in better overall shape now though and my goal is to get in better shape every yr. I couldnt run 1 mile to save my life back then probably and I smoked, several things regularly, and partied it UP! My poor lungs and heart and liver... all the more reason to WORK it now. BTW Im 32, run half marathons, 10 mile races, hike 3-10 miles weekly, participate in p90x program, do yoga, raise 2 children and do childcare in my home, sleep regular hours, eat WAY better than I did 10 yrs ago, WAY better! Since Im gonna age, I figure, might as well do it strong as hell and graceful as a dancer:)0

This completely describes me as well.0 -
I'm heavier than I was in HS but I have a lot more lean mass now, and I prefer it this way.0
-
Yes. I weigh about what I weighed in 9th grade (I was 40lbs more by 11th) and I have much more muscle tone.0
-
HELL YES!0

woops double post0

Me. I weigh a little more now, but I can run 20 flights of stairs and a 13 minute mile. In high school I think my fastest mile was MAYBE 15-17 minutes.0
-
I'm not there yet, but I certainly eat much better than I did back then!0

I'm in way better shape than I was in high school (which was many moons ago, grad. in 1976). I was a pudgy, doughy teenager. I was 'introduced' to exercise when I was 19....never looked back or stopped moving since then:))) I'm completely committed to a healthy lifestyle!!0
-
I am in the best shape of my life. I am a similar weight and size - a few pounds lighter and a size or two smaller now - but am infinitely more fit and healthy.0
-
Oh, Me. Absolutely! I was about 40lbs heavier than I am right now and even though I was active in sports, I did not commit myself to being fit. I couldn't run a mile nonstop without dying at 16-17. I now run 5 miles 3-4 days a week, lift weights and eat healthy.
I lived on junk food and only worked out when the coach yelled at me.
The 17 year old me would be so jealous of the 30 year old me :drinker: :laugh:0 -
No...I'm still a bit larger than I wa in high school, not much I can wear the same clothes, but my tummy isn't as flat and I weigh a lot more. In highschool I weighed 126lb at 5'10 I now weigh 157.8lb at the same height. That being said, in highschool I needed my fitness levels. School was a mile away and I always walked home, and sometimes walked to school. The hills were a 1 in 4 gradient which are VERY steep and I lived at the bottom of one, to get anywhere from my house you had to go UP. My sister and I always wandered off with the dogs and would have picnics in the moors...a mile hike up that hill then we'd get lost on the top of it and chase the dog, each other and rock climb without any harnesses! And that's just the good stuff...we had to be strong and quick and fit because we were heavily bullied. You never knew when a group of 15 would jump you and you'd either have to run for it or fight for it. So I was very strong and very fast. Plus I also had a habbit of helping the teachers carry their heavy boxs because it helped strengthen me, and put me under a teachers eye so I wa safe. No, I will NEVER be that fit again, that was pure survival instinct then and I needed it. Now...I'm fitter than most of the kids at my school were, but I never want to have to be that fit again. It was far too dangerous and 126 is VERY light for my height, it's bordering on underweight! Even though I ate everything in sight, I burned far more off running and fighting than I could have ever eaten.0

By highschool end I was at 280lbs. I had gotten down to 220 about a year later doing weight watchers, subway and working out everyday at my work. Then i came back to my hometown and got into a band, stopped working out and ate horribly. Got up to 270 now currently working on getting myself back down below 200lbs. I am at 236 and that is a progress of about 3 years considering I graduated in 2001. I feel a lot better now then I did at 280lbs, just wish I wouldn't have waited so long to get back into it. I'm not looking forward to 30 at all which will be this time next year. So My goal is to be fit and have the boom before i am 30 years old!0

I was a very active, but not athletic, twig in high school. I could skate for hours and hours, but I expended more energy coming up with excuses to SKIP gym class than the effort I would have used taking gym class.
More than 20 years later, and 20 pounds heavier, I can fit into a lot of the same clothes, but I'm a lot more fit now.0 -
I am heavier, but a smaller size - whoda thunk it lol....Everything looks better but my belly. Stupid stretch marks But I love my little brats and I (most days) think they were worth it :bigsmile:0
