DVD help (30 day shred & possibly others)

We have a DVD and the remote disappeared. I went to use the 30 day shred and without the remote I can't move to select level 1. I tried several things and nothing will work without a remote. So is there a universal remote that actually works on the market or DVD's that I can just hit play and it will go to the workout? I don't want to buy a new DVD just yet because this one is only a year old and barely used.
Any suggestions would be great.

    Universal remotes work DVD's too you just have to program them.

    same thing happened to mine but I am having trouble finding a universal remote that will work, I've tried 2 already.
