Runners...ever had a lipoma removed?

Hi All.

I had a lipoma removed from the back of my thigh a few weeks ago. The doctor said it's likely it was caused from a pulled hamstring years ago and then it just grew as they apparently do. Have any of you runners ever had one? I've heard this is pretty commonplace amongst long distance runners. Did you notice your run increase after having the lipoma removed?

Thanks! :drinker:

Oh geez. I have a dr appointment to look at my hamstring next week. I've had a weird nagging pain in it for a few months now but don't ever remember hurting it. Good luck with the running. Hope all is well now.
  • I hope it's not a lipoma. If it is, get it removed as soon as you can before it grows too big and can't be taken out in the office. Mine was on top of the muscle, so I was lucky. Some people have them embedded in the muscle (even worse in their organs). Mine wasn't affecting my health but it was pretty big (like a flat grapefruit). The doctor wanted to take it out to make sure it was benign.
